Please watch this speech by Jess Phillips in the HoC to guage how pationate she is about the victims of Child Sex Abuse.

Literally all they had to do was calmly condemn Musk’s dishonest & inciteful attack on their parliamentary colleague, Jess Phillips. And they couldn’t even manage that. Absolutely shameful.

Indeed. On the other hand I had an extensive secret library in my classroom and the kids developed a love for reading, I think based on the fact that reading was a rebellious act in that school 🤣
Here's #Syria 2024 🫶🏻💚
Assad’s tanks that were shelling Syrian civilians. Now, the #Syrian people have started using them for better purposes.
Just wondering. Do you have friends (or ex-friends) who now openly support Putin?
They got to see it was in fact their teaching assistant. The shock and disbelief was amazing, and the TA promptly disappeared, not to be seen until Monday morning!
They wrote their final reports, submitted them and at the very end of the week, we played them fake CCTV which we had mocked up in night vision 🤣...
We had planted clues and red herrings, meaning we could investigate and interrogate witnesses....
60 year 6s bought this completely (must be the acting skills) and we made wanted posters to put round the school, which got the whole school talking about it...
So first thing Monday morning, we did that. Then when the kids came in, we acted shocked and got them all into one room and got the headteacher on speaker phone. He told us we needed to investigate and write up a report...
MEMORABLE LITERACY UNIT... Yr6. We started by sellotaping kids pencil cases to the ceiling (obviously). The aim was to teach non-chronological reports..
I worked for a headteacher who banned reading for pleasure on the basis it did nothing to boost reading comprehension test scores. True story
I would love to fill Bluesky with stories of inspirational teachers, librarians, reading helpers, carers. Who were the people who changed your life by reading aloud to you, sharing stories & books? What are your best memories of being read aloud to? #literacy #reading #books #EduSky
I don't remember much about the stuff I had to learn at school. But I will NEVER EVER FORGET Mr Evans, the teacher who just read us stories – pure reading for pleasure, no assessment whatsoever. That's the stuff that changes lives! I'm so grateful to him & all the life-changing teachers out there!
I hope the liberation of Syria makes some of the hard left think about their pro-Assad, pro-Hezbollah and pro-Iran stance taken over the years

Brilliant blog post on the dangers of ClassDojo. How such an inadequate system of rewards and punishments came to be so prominent is anyone's guess. joe-bower.blogspot.com/2014/11/6-re....
The state appears to pay very little attention to children being homeschooled. They are entirely at the mercy of their parents. For most this will be fine. For some, this will be a living nightmare
After crushing austerity on Scottish councils, the education secretary begrudgingly agrees to boost spending and restore lowered teacher numbers.
Starting on Monday, The Herald is running a series of special reports on additional support needs in schools.
We've spoken to struggling parents, heard from experts, and analysed more data than ever before.
Don't miss it.

A whopper of a treat today. The magnificent UNICEF toolkit for understanding and supporting mental health in infancy & early childhood. Beautiful infographics & sound content to support systems change ❤️

Listening to Reform UK, their big bold initiatives appear to be to do austerity all over again.. but, er, this time it'll work gov honest
*Incredible*
2 families sue literacy specialists for a flawed curriculum, and the harm they did to themselves and their children
Class of reluctant readers? A major turning point for me with 'that class' were Fighting Fantasy books, in particular The Citadel of Chaos. So much did they love it that we ended up having an after school club where we'd all dress as wizards 🤣 @fightingfantasy.bsky.social
I once had a girl in my P3 class who was taken out to be homeschooled. I had no confidence that parents would have the resources to homeschool her. She was vulnerable and the system allowed her to skip her entire schooling. In hope she's ok.
A female food bank staff member stacks a box of food on shelf. A headline from the Express is pasted on the top. It reads: Food banks in UK pushed to breaking point as families seek essential support.
No one expects to need a food bank, especially at Christmas. 💚
We urgently need your help to provide emergency food, support and hope to people this winter.
