But how long does it take? 8 hours? 2?

Now we're talking! So once to price is agreed, you get to start the timer! Fun!

Maybe fun.

I'll give you 30, not to lick it.

Not to cross the streams too much, but day job is basically doing this exact exercise but for the cost of building... erm, buildings. It can be pretty ruthless.

Consequently, I have no issue charging for commissions. Knowing your worth is the number one rule!

The very same!

Absolutely. I'm trying to figure out how much people want for painting, and no one is committing!

I think clarity is definitely important!

I also tend to agree, I think your costs are round about right.

I find it genuinely interesting to think about. We've not even got on to the joy of tax yet!

You also have to factor in... if this IS box art, does the value go up for the client? If you have a slayer sword standard box art, will that mean you sell more models? Does that make it worth it?

So the question becomes, what is a reasonable amount of time that you can charge for a mini, and still expect someone to pay that much?

There's definitely not a one size fits all answer, but I'm interested to see people put an amount on it, based on either their experience, or their bank account!

Ah, so this is where it becomes interesting!

In theory, the client doesn't care how long it took. If you're buying any other goods, you dont care how long it took to make that sandwich, right? The person producing it has to balance the cost, with what the client is willing to pay.

I think you're about bang on the money Jess. I see commissions being charged at all different rates, and all different standards.

I just think it's interesting to see when people pitch it.

Lunchtime opinion gathering:

How much should a box art standard comisson cost?

Eavy metal standard, neat, clean, but standard.

How much would you pay? How much would you charge?

No ulterior motive, I'm just interested as to what the community pitches it.

Go!

The last one! I didn't actually realise this guy was in proper terminator armour til I had him in hand. So on this second one I gave him a proper hat.
