Two things can be true:

Congress should pass uniform, national legislation reining in partisan gerrymandering; and

Until that happens, or every state adopts an independent redistricting commission, neither party is going to (or, frankly, should) unilaterally disarm.

The message of the Right reacting to Virginia is the same as the message of "2020 was rigged": no victory by anyone but us is ever legitimate. We are the only ones allowed to win.

These people are cartoon villains entitled to no respect and no trust. Rabid dogs.

No one will ever trust us again. In time of crisis, we will have no one who to whom we can turn, no one who will stand by our side. Day-in and day-out this administration betrays our allies and enables our enemies. It is perverse and nauseating.

WaPo says that Warsh “promised independence” and “demonstrated seriousness” during his hearing. When asked who won the 2020 election, he basically hid under the table. Promises of independence from someone so cowed and cowardly are less than meaningless.
