A Red-necked Grebe was on the extensive flood north of Meare Road this afternoon. Different to the recent Cheddar Res bird.

Late yesterday evening a juv Red-necked Phalarope joined the 3 Greys at Cheddar Res. I.d. confirmed this morning. Gets on the central weedy spits and best viewed from south side. #somersetbirds
A week’s birding on Papa Stour has been quiet until I found this Great Snipe this afternoon. It was in the boggy valley between Gorda Water and West Voe.
After missing several flyover sightings this spring, it was good to catch up with this 1s Purple Heron on Meare Heath early this afternoon.
5 new Black-necked Grebes at Cheddar Res this morning, all showing signs of summer plumage. The 3 long-staying birds were also present.
