Left unstated in this article is the appeal of being in a community where you can live, go to the gym, eat, get various chores done and socialize with other people, all without a car. For those of us in NYC, that’s life, but for much of America, it’s a luxury www.wsj.com/real-estate/...

Isgur’s commentary is as if she didn’t even bother to read the memoranda. Both Breyer and Kagan pointed out that what the court was doing was unprecedented, and if what Isgur were saying were true, Roberts and Alito’s responses could have made the point she’s trying to make, but notably they didn’t
Even the “good” (not loyalist Trump dead ender) conservative legal pundits are just shameless liars
Sarah Isgur QTing the NYT shadow docket story: In 2014 and 2015, the Court used the “shadow docket” to stop Texas’ anti-abortion restrictions from going into effect while the case was pending. The left was thrilled with the shadow docket at that point—years before this case even existed…
Isgur is such a fucking hack. the case she’s referring to is one where the 5th Circuit entered a stay and it was appealed to SCOTUS. the case in the Times story involved the Court intervening to stay an EPA rule while a lower court was still adjudicating the issue.
I thought the point of being owned by an evil billionaire who should probably be in prison is that we wouldn’t have to put up with 11 game losing streaks
Yes, and let’s make even more dramatic reforms about who can serve. Shift away from it being a finishing program for appellate lawyers going to jones day. Have some of them be career clerks or academics on sabbatical (some of whom should be historians and scientists others who aren’t just lawyers)
Is she overrated? She’s a very good singles artist and I think her best songs are some of the best pop songs of the 80s, but is anyone assembling best-ever artist lists and going, gotta make sure Madonna is in my top 10? Seems to me like she’s properly rated
Not the main point but this tweet really makes me wonder the extent to which Lash is actually teaching 1A law as it in fact exists today or as right wing legal activists want their allies on the Supreme Court to change it
Hell yeah, like $10 per pound for each pound in excess of 3500 lbs in curb weight for gas vehicles, in excess of 4000 for hybrids and in excess of 4500 for EVs
Also a good example of right wing legal scholars’ approach to textualism generally
Also Trump’s tacit acknowledgment that he knows it won’t be long until It Happens
By showing them all in Heaven, Trump is expressing subconscious remorse about having killed both Soleimani and Epstein
Not understanding the substance of the other side’s position and coming away from the latest round of discussions with an incorrect open issues list (both things we’ve seen) smacks of a staff full of arrogant and inexperienced personnel too lazy even to take good notes
And it’s not just Vance. This whole administration has displayed nothing but contempt for the rigorous work of governance. I’m not a diplomat but, as a finance lawyer, I do have some experience negotiating, and I’ve seen nothing but amateur hour from these people
i hope the white house sends vance to campaign for Reform in britain
we should treat these pardons as null and void as far as i am concerned www.wsj.com/politics/pol...
When we say that JD doesn't have the juice, this is what we mean.
The argument that "we can't impeach Trump because JD is worse" is like saying "we can't cut out that tumor because there's another tumor next to it."
Impeach JD next. No one likes him.
The singular goal of all future US politics is to ensure Trumpism is defeated and cannot again take root here, and everything that serves that end is to be considered and prioritized. It's a holistic organizing principle, from a Green New Deal to Nuremberg 2 to expanding the court to Reconstruction.
Next Dem president should offer extradition of Trump and Hegseth for trial in Iranian courts as part of a deal to start cleaning up this mess lol
Every traditional American ally needs to recognize that the Republican Party is a threat to humanity, and they need to take every step they can to destroy it and force the USA to implement long-needed structural reforms that will prevent whatever replaces it from turning into the same thing
I'm not sure how you can be against removing this man from office right now. What will it take? A nuke being dropped? It's too late then. The purpose of impeachment and the 25th Amendment is to prevent that type of thing from happening, not just to react to it.
Remember all this nonsense about the supposed inferiority of “third world” immigration? They really believed that and applied their theory to international relations and it failed. Racism makes you stupid.
I’ve read about this! And yeah, to my point above lol. Although when I was a kid I don’t recall hating the bitterness so much as the texture, which was a function of the prep. They were always served steamed or boiled in my household which I despised especially in the latter case
Humans walked on the moon before they made Brussels sprouts taste good
Jeff Sessions, famously too racist to become a federal judge in the 1980s, has somehow been the least bad of his three senate-confirmed AGs
“Kings had always been involving and impoverishing their people in wars, pretending generally, if not always, that the good of the people was the object,” a young representative named Abraham Lincoln wrote in 1848. This was “understood to be the most oppressive of all Kingly oppressions and they resolved to so frame the Constitution that no one man should hold the power of bringing this oppression upon us.” This quote, incidentally, is immortalized on the House’s website, if any members of Congress are looking for it.
In fairness it’s not like the consequences of having a mad king unilaterally take the country to war on a whim were so incredibly obvious that you could see it coming from the 18th and 19th centuries www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/0...
I assume people here have seen I Called Him Morgan, but if not, watch it
remarkable that the Times basically ignores any and all public criticism except repeatedly clarifying that they are in fact transphobes
I’m someone who thinks Biden should have dropped out because he wasn’t all there, which is why I wish the media had been sincerely concerned about president’s mental acuity and not just wielding the issue opportunistically against a politician they hated, only to ignore Trump’s similar problems
