This is one of the best pieces of pop culture writing I've read in the past couple of years. These excerpts are great but you need to read how the build to that last one. Goddamn. Thank you @awalrusdarkly.bsky.social and @popheist.com

major media and the US government are both run by all the kids from high school who desperately wanted to be popular, but never realized their goal was pathetic horseshit

"Consider Sam Altman telling the world that he needed ChatGPT to tell him how to raise a baby. You exist. I exist. Our parents did not have LLMs, or even AI, and yet somehow we survived our childhoods"
Its a combo: intense hubris, contempt for other fields of knowledge, and lack of object permanence

While the Constitution says that the President can be impeached for various "high crimes and misdemeanors", it did explicitly state two specific crimes that are grounds for impeachment, and one of them is "Bribery." The remedy for this scenario was anticipated and does exist. So that being said...

impeach trump
push for repeal of bbb
re-fund every program that trump defunded

Put another way, I think the Jewishness of the army and the state is basically incidental. This is simply what happens when you have a racial supremacist state and a racial supremacist army and a racial supremacist law. The soldiers, regardless of the particulars, will act as if they are supreme.

“This is not a coherent set of arguments at all. It is not a philosophy. It is not a set of intelligible ethics. Rather, it is a list of angry reactions to being yelled at—given a somber voice and dressed up as some sort of wondrous work of intellect.”

Weird, Iran was at the negotiations table *before* Trump illegally blockaded them, and the blockade actually drove them away from negotiations.

Some of us predicted this, but not all of us!

This tells presidents they can ignore judges, use 200‑year‑old “emergency” laws to disappear migrants, then count on higher courts to block any accountability. If courts can’t even investigate willful violations of their own orders, “no one is above the law” is just an empty slogan.

Yeah. "I disagree with the Court's legal analysis" is one thing, but "the Court isn't using legal analysis to decide cases" is another. The latter is no longer in the realm of law and should not be treated as if it is.

It is IMO important to grasp that what’s happened here is: the revivified corpse of New Labour worked tirelessly offscreen for years to raise up a new generation of hopeless fail-sons, and now the whole lot of them are being sucked into the bottomless pit of their fathers’ corruption.

It's notable that Sen. Ossoff is pressing this attack in a tight re-election fight in a purple state. The rest of the party needs to pay attention.

Researchers warn of severe long-term damage to the brain after Covid following new study

In the same manifesto, Palantir's owners argued that we need a national military draft, that soft power is over, and that we were too hard on Germany and Japan after World War II. I don't think that company should be allowed to exist anymore.

Since 2016 people have been demanding that Democrats manifest a pan-ideological United Front coalition against Trumpism while refusing to grapple with the fact that vanishingly few conservatives have shown the slightest interest in such a project.

I'm not joking when I say mRNA technology is more important than "AI" and it's a tragedy we're throwing billions into one while our government is aggressively defunding the other.

If you’re a Democratic leader going around saying, “The problem is we have to stop annoying you with our language,” rather than, “Look, Republicans are getting you mad about words so they can rob you blind,” you’re doing the GOP’s work for them.

The technological right has to bend toward explicit eugenicism and a belief that all human difference is natural and innate, to deal with their anxiety that they do not deserve what they have and that the public could take it from them at any moment.

Today, a lot of people will be talking about the manifesto that Palantir released. In addition to pouring over what those words mean, I invite you to ground the conversation in what Palantir has already done.

Its work with Israel and ICE show us exactly what it stands for.

As a software engineer, I endorse this message.

One big shift has been the overtaking of Silicon Valley by MBAs and sales folks.

R&D has been turned into a cost center.

Totally fine that large parts of the British government are jumping into bed with a company whose public statements are "we are, at a fundamental level, absolutely batshit crazy neofascists".

The Palentir statement on its desired “Technological Republic” is one of the scariest things I have seen in a while. It is a call for a world dominated by an authoritarian U.S., generated by AI (both the statement and the world), run by tech-surveillance companies. Technofascism pure!

Finland ends homelessness and provides shelter for all in need - scoop.me In Finland, the number of homeless people has fallen sharply. Why? The country applies the "Housing First" concept agains homelessness.

“In Finland, the number of homeless people has fallen sharply. Those affected receive a small apartment & counselling with no preconditions. 4 out of 5 people affected make their way back to a stable life. And all this is CHEAPER than accepting homelessness.”

IT SAVES PUBLIC MONEY to house people.
