How about you? Is it stressful when people try to get you to make a plan?

We just checked the WayBackMachine and the oldest record of our website is from July 2002 (we were called School for the Dead at the time.) Colorful!

It's a big recording day today at Rub Wrongways Records @rubwrongways.bsky.social. Ken's coming back in to add guitars and keyboards and whatever other sounds we conjure up. As always, he's song-unheard and diving in with instant inspiration.
The 12-string acoustic is just what that song needed.
We're fully immersed in the recording of this new album. What time is it? Is there food?
Another great creative day at Rub Wrongways Records yesterday. Ken came in and we recorded his stream of consciousness guitars on five songs for the next album. We can't wait to get back at it again. It's all coming together!
Look what Henning did!
We just did a bunch of singing recording before the new blizzard comes in and takes out the electrical grid. Phew.
We're trying to record vocals but there's a crew cutting down four giant trees across the road.
That was 27 days ago, but now the discs are in! Though the album doesn't come out officially for 2 weeks, it is available for "pre-orders" right now and they'll be sent to you almost immediately and will be in your mailbox before you know it. Only 100 were printed.
A great weekend of recording! Max and Brian muscled through the basic drums and bass parts for 12 new Gentle Hen songs while Henning provided scratch vocals and guitar. It was so nice to be in the warm studio while an arctic blast turned the outside into a frozen hell-scape of sadness.
It’s recording day! It’s recording day!
We closed the studio door against the cold and crazy world and lost ourselves in arranging and nurturing three songs for our upcoming recording session.
One year ago today we released The Wrong Record (@gentlehen.bsky.social). Since then this ragtag bunch of misfits songs have been having a dreamy time road tripping around the virtual world, seeping out of speakers and headphones and into the ears of monsters and angels.

Thanks, @buddygott.bsky.social !
Two years ago today we released The Whole Point of the Trip. The songs began before and during the world-shutdown and we ended up with a collection of journeys off of the couch, onto the road, into the world and then back home again. The whole point of the trip (is to get back home)
What a great time Saturday night at Luthier's Co-op in Easthampton, Massachusetts. We got to debut three new songs and play a whole mess of old ones we'd not done in some time. Here's @henningo.com, @sittingnexttobrian.bsky.social, and Max. Isn't Max's costume amazing?

Don't really want to publicly out them but it really comes down to everyone one is struggling to stay in business and some types of bookings (private events) are far more lucrative than rock shows. Booking in general seems much more unsettled than it used to. Or maybe it's rose-colored glasses.
Another show canceled by the venue due to schedule mishaps. It's almost sort of expected now.
According to clocks and calendars, our album A Telephone Built for Two came out today seventeen years ago. (We had a different band name)
Where were you that day?

This doesn't seem right. We're gonna say it was two weeks ago or possible a couple decades. Either way, it's all just music isn't it.
On the occasion Henning's birthday today, Gentle Hen and the Fawns drummer Brian created this top 40 faves playlist of Henning songs. Enjoy!
Thanks, PITRW!
"It’s the kind of music that may have influenced the adolescence of Ross from ‘Friends’ if he sought a playlist that helped him to look and sound cool." - an interesting brief write-up about our latest release, The Wrong Record.

This from back when we released Sneaking Up on the Moon at the Parlor Room in Northampton, MA.
We’re on our way to tonight’s gig at Darlings in Easthampton, Massachusetts!
It's a new song learning day, it's a new song learning day!
Yup
Boston-area friends, come and hang out tonight at the Village Social Club in Brookline, MA. I'll be there playing a whole mess of songs from 8 until 10. It's free!
For our show last night we made a list of 19 songs to choose from and we ended up playing them all! Phew. That was fun.
