Sometimes I look at the channels of weird negative people who spawn into my comment section, and the video descriptions on one guy's videos from today genuinely got a laugh out of me. Supervillain behavior
A life size standee of Bruno Mars at Shibuya Tower Records.
Can't stop thinking about this standee of Bruno Mars that looks like he's a guest character on the next Like A Dragon game.

i dont keep tumblr or bluesky tabs open or apps on my phone anymore so i only open this website to give media reviews on things that arent on letterboxd
the original didnt. i agree that 2020 focused too much on taichi at times and it took away from the potential of the other kids, but i think overall it did a great job of balancing the expectations of the old show with the desire to write a new story. i thought it was good. liked it
-is a huge complaint i have about the original show. it takes SO LONG for hikari to be relevant and then shes crucial to the final battle. it always felt unbalanced. hikari being present much earlier in adventure 2020 was a massive boon for its quality. overall 2020 accomplishes some things-
a callback from adventure 02! as soon as they stopped trying to be an embellished rehashing and completely changed direction, the story quality absolutely skyrocketed. especially in part because hikari was allowed to be involved from much earlier on. such a crucial character being limited to the end
i especially LOVED the addition of the final arc being an adaptation of events from the digimon movie. i dont know why people were complaining. i thought that was fucking awesome. that was part of the original story! of course they put a version of it in too! and they ended with the digital gates-
adventure 2020 feels like it finds that balance for me. i think its weakest part is the beginning where theyre trying to find their footing. the attempted commitment to the old story makes the new additions feel grating. once they started doing something new every callback felt more graceful
adventure 01 to me constantly felt like i was just watching a show about some kids who are lost and just sort of wandering around. outside of specific episodes where the plot decided to happen there wasnt ever much going on. which allowed the kids' personalities to flourish at the cost of intrigue
i could see why someone would like the original plethora of villains more as it makes the world feel more expansive but personally i think the consistency of A Greater Threat made the story feel more weighted and important. its a complaint i have about the original that it felt very aimless
it wouldnt be an interesting reboot if they had just reanimated the scenes one to one. there wouldnt a point to it that way. the people behind the show tried to figure out what made the original show what it was and what they could change and i think they landed on a pretty good result
i remember being deeply irritated with how much stuff was changed but after finishing the show and reading the reviews i like a lot of the changes they made and stand by the decision. its a retelling of the odyssey and some parts are the same but other parts are different which is what makes it good
capitalizing on missed potential from the original. plenty of instances where the characters get to experience growth and depth that they werent afforded in the original show even if it was at the trade off of some fantastic original scenes and arcs being removed. hikari in particular was fantastic
i stopped watching digimon adventure 2020 halfway through 3 years ago because it was making me too mad. and i just went back a week ago and picked up where i left off to finish it and i actually think it was really good in a lot of places. some elements of it annoyed me but a lot of the show was-
everyone at coachella got to see deez nuts and double rainbow across the sky on the biggest screen on the planet and theyre mad. just doesnt compute with me. thats all goodnight
to be clear i was not at coachella and i did not watch anything else i just saw people clowning on justin bieber for playing youtube videos during his set and i was like "that sounds kind of iconic and legendary" and it was. it was iconic and legendary. everyone should be taking notes
the justin bieber youtube intermission at coachella was one of the best live performances ive seen. more artists should be connecting with their audience and history like that. like wow... i was really moved. i dont even like his music that much but the meaning behind that was really beautiful
he played memes from 2012. he played videos of him as a kid in his living room and harmonized. sorry i think that is 100000 times more impactful as a performance from an artist who has been in the business since childhood than a super expensive explosive hard to look at lightshow is. that was art!
