Yesterday I bought a flight for the first time based on convenience and not just a low price. Is this how the other half lives? 😂

People have no idea, not really, how this budget is about to wreck their very foundations.

RFK Jr. is threatening the routine childhood immunization schedule. This is bad. We all need to be paying attention.

Get loud. Stay loud.

Singer Nezza was told to sing the national anthem in English at the Dodgers game - she sang it in Spanish anyway. The crowd cheered as she finished “The Star-Spangled Banner” en español 🇺🇸🇨🇴🇩🇴

The Spanish version was commissioned by the US govt in 1945 to foster better relations with Latin America.

Just so I’m clear… Terry Moran got fired, but Mike Lee is still a sitting US senator?

This is worth 3 minutes of your time. No one wants to eat at a restaurant that only serves bland chicken. (It’s not about chicken, or restaurants, tho)

LADIES, run background checks on all men you meet. Here’s some free or low cost tools:

1. PIMeyes: basically an easy reverse image search & will find their face ANYWHERE on the internet (useful if they give a fake name)
2. Cyber Background Checks: will find their criminal records
3. BlackBookOnline

In consoling a friend recently, I put words to something I've felt since my first brush with loss but never managed to articulate:

One of the hardest things about loss is the co-existence of grieving time with normal time, in ways that can be both comfortingly complementary and jarringly dissonant.

I am sitting in a public library working on a grant, and a grandmotherly woman is patiently teaching a small boy how to read at the table next to me. Another woman is knitting nearby. The children’s section is packed with kids. Things in my country are bleak, but libraries are where I find hope. ❤️

Pediatrics in the U.S. is in crisis—and no one seems to care.

Been sounding the alarm since November.

But everyone’s still pretending it’s business as usual.

If vaccines get banned

by Fall 2025…

Winter 2026 will be catastrophic.

A thing about growing up poor, or even middle class in America, is that there comes a time when you look back on bad memories or traumatic experiences you saw and realize how many of them had something to do with a lack of money

I'm sitting here at night
listening for you

I pretend you are in the wind
speaking through the leaves
it's the sound
of every molecule of you
desperate
to be here

I let myself be addicted
to the symphony
your absence
a presence
that bathes cool on my skin

Bookish friends are great because you can be all "read this, it will absolutely crush your soul and tear your beating heart into a million little pieces and you will literally never recover from it" and they'll be like omg yaaaasssss

Impossible to communicate to people that once you decide that a group more vulnerable than you can be sacrificed in the name of your own safety or interests that you have already entered into an tacit agreement that you can also be sacrificed in the interests of a group less vulnerable than you.

His promise was much less what he would do with power, but whom he would deny access to it. And he has very much kept up the promises of exclusion!

I hate what this country has become. I'm so sick and goddamn tired of waking to a fever dream that everyone pretends is normal.
