The horrors of the online “Rape Academy” If you thought the rape of Gisèle Pelicot was a unique story, you were wrong

This is not questionable pornography. This is men that hate their wives. This is rape culture magnified and gamified and keyworded

Still absolutely boggles my mind that Mandelson (or anyone else) imagined for a second that he could be both US ambassador and Oxford chancellor. Quite apart from issues of scheduling and location, the conflicts of interest are just obvious.

EU’s top court finds Hungary’s anti-LGBTQ+ law in breach of key values ECJ says law passed in 2021 discriminatory and ‘contrary to the identity of the union’, in early test for incoming PM The EU’s highest court has found Hungary’s anti-LGBTQ+ law to be discriminatory, stigmatising and in breach of basic democratic values, setting up an early test for the incoming prime minister Péter Magyar’s government when it takes power next month. In a wide-ranging judgment, the European court of justice said the 2021 law that bans content about LGBTQ+ people from schools and primetime TV was at odds with a society based on pluralism and fundamental rights such as prohibition of discrimination and freedom of expression. It's an interesting one: Olly Robbins was less than a month in post and Peter Mandelson had been publicly announced as ambassador and agreed by the USA.

Robbins was a longtime civil service survivor and knew what Number 10 wanted. So…how did he see his job in that moment? And whose fault is that?

#trevorphillips: Starmer appointed both Mandelson & Robbins

In response Liz Kendall brings up Epsteins victims. Where was her concern for those women when Mandelson was appointed? Why didnt she speak out publicly then? Because she doesn't care & is just using them now to deflect

Finland ends homelessness and provides shelter for all in need - scoop.me In Finland, the number of homeless people has fallen sharply. Why? The country applies the "Housing First" concept agains homelessness.

“In Finland, the number of homeless people has fallen sharply. Those affected receive a small apartment & counselling with no preconditions. 4 out of 5 people affected make their way back to a stable life. And all this is CHEAPER than accepting homelessness.”

The government (and Tories) voted down a Bill that would make water companies actually pay their fines.
Fines like the £122.7m that Thames was due to pay Aug 25, but OfWat have happily deferred while they pay shareholders large dividends
How many ex-water company execs work in government?

Law to pardon UK women convicted of illegal abortions passes final hurdle in parliament Legislation will expunge convictions and end prosecution of women who terminate their pregnancies Legislation to pardon women who have been convicted of illegal abortions has passed its final parliamentary hurdle, paving the way for a landmark change in the law. The amendment to the crime and policing bill, which will also expunge the police records of those arrested and investigated over illegal abortions, was considered in the House of Lords during a phase of parliamentary ping-pong, where a bill passes back and forth between the Lords and Commons. Here’s a novel idea: why isn’t every Minister and Special Advisor, and I’d even extend that to the Lords, vetted with serious scrutiny? They don't always undergo the same rigorous background checks required of civil servants. Citizens failing an enhanced DBS wld be refused a role.

The number of people crossing by small boat this year compared to last year. The fall is very real and not seasonal. Little difference in numbers during the winter but since numbers increased in spring, half as many people are coming as this time last year. This is mainly because of European trends.
