"Eee, PC. Eee." killed me

Listening to The Mountain! The new Gorillaz album just came out - also wearing a $30 Casio LF-20W, daily-driving Fedora KDE Workstation on all my PCs, and eating WAY too many Ben & Jerry’s cookie dough bites!

definitely not worth $70, but the controller hardware itself is actually surprisingly solid. after flashing it to use bluetooth it'll work like a normal third party controller.

as of january 2023, nothing lol

(stadia shut down then and everyone got refunds for games they bought. the chromecast included still works and the controller can be imaged to act as a normal bluetooth controller, though - the controller hardware itself is actually pretty dang good, too!)

A screencap of the original Gaussian splatting scan I took of the dog, where she's laying cutely on some carpet. The image is in color and in relatively high detail!

A 3D plane showing a sleeping dog - the surface is jagged and rough.

Learned a lot about surface reconstruction from this! Since the scan I took wasn't professionally done and had a LOT of noise, I ended up having to make a bunch of tweaks to the Poisson algorithm values used to create this surface.

A point cloud, vaguely resembling the scene of a dog sleeping on carpet.

A point cloud, vaguely resembling the scene of a dog sleeping on carpet.

A messy first attempt at constructing a surface from the point cloud. It was a total failure, but the scene looks cool - on a blue background, red dots arranged in a cloud that looks like a dog is surrounded by white polygons jutting out of the ground both above and beneath the surface that the dog appears to be sleeping on.

Gaussian splatting scan taken with Scaniverse on iPhone 13 mini, exported to .ply and noisy points deleted with @blender.org. CloudCompare was used to calculate normals and do Poisson surface reconstruction, with Blender again being used to create a simple pedestal and text!

A surreal low-poly game scene where a man with a boost pack and a red robot head is standing in front of a clerk's counter in the middle of a desert scene, with a honeycomb green structure in the background. Behind the clerk's counter is a metallic swordfish. To the right of the man is a line of people in stylized clothing, some with robot heads as well, all waiting to enter a door in a tall building even further behind the honeycomb structure. The sky is black, and the desert seems to end where the sky begins, right behind the building where the people are lining up.

finally beat bomb rush cyberfunk, god that game is so stylish. had such a good time rushing through it though, although all i can think of is how cool almost every environment and character looked. soundtrack goes HARD, too.
