Hey Charlie, I’m sorry this is your upgrade experience. Any chance you could share more details on what goes wrong? we want to make this the best we possibly can.
Hey Andy, mind sharing some of the errors you’re getting? We’re always interested in hearing from our users and see how we can help, fix, etc.
That’s actually pretty good we might use that!
No worries Sam we appreciate the feedback :) thanks for sharing all of that, i`ll pass it along to the team, and we`ll see what we can do. I`ll try to keep you posted and maybe you can give things a try again in the future?
We’re really trying here, but as you know “There are 2 hard problems in computer science: cache invalidation, naming things, and off-by-1 errors.”
Hey Sam, I’m an EM on the React team at Meta, really curious to get your thoughts on Metro and see where we can improve
10 years, 5 voices, 1 panel that defines where React Native has been and where it’s going. It will be a rare chance to hear from @ccheever.com (@expo.dev), @cortini.co (Meta), @grabbou.com (@callstack.com), Christoph Nakazawa & @tomocchino.com (@vercel.com). Don't miss it 🎟️ clstk.com/4mNA8VK
We are excited to announce the release of React Native 0.81! 🎉
This new version brings Android 16 support, faster iOS builds (experimental), and several bugfixes.

The rate of side-projects is intensifying, as shown by number of registered domains per week 😅
I'll be speaking at React Universe Conf this year! Can't wait to share some of the work we've been doing to make React Native stabler for y'all!
My podcast player side-project thingy is going well, got a web version going too, and it's all deployed. Apps are on Testflight. First time since 2018 of having my own stuff ready to go out there! React Native and Expo are magic.
I’d like to believe that if you’re building something you have thoughts and opinions on how the thing should look/function. Just prompting “build me a calorie tracker/notes app/music player” etc, without thinking about what makes this different and better makes no sense to me.
I understand why someone would use AI coding assistance, it’s great when you know what you want to build and know mostly what you’re doing. What I don’t get is trying to one-shot things. What’s the point? I can see the value in it as an LLM tech demo, but for a product? Nah.
My heart Flutters thinking of all the UI I can Swiftly Compose with React Native.
Claude did all the boring stuff while I worked on the fun unique features I needed for my player. so awesome. took 4-5 hours in total.
I love how Claude Code helps me overcome "writer's block" on my side-projects. I wanted to write this podcast player since forever (it's highly customized to my usecase, sync server and device) but couldn't bring myself to do RSS parsing for the thousandth time in my career 🥱
React Native 0.80 is out, Check it out! first time for me on the release crew too.
a digital recreation of edward hopper's "nighthawks" featuring four characters inside of a diner, all in the style of Nintendo Miis
I recreated Edward Hopper's "Nighthawks" using uDraw for the Nintendo Wii (and also turned all the people into Miis)
I'm experimenting with a way to show how DOS games render themselves.
Basically I'm recording a lossless video of the game running on a very slow (virtual) CPU, then removing all the frames where nothing happens, and I'm playing it back sped up a lot.
let's go back.
Anyway not sure what I'm trying to say here other than - time flies and life takes you unexpected places maybe?
I always self identified as the "iOS guy" and "startups guy" and then "citymapper guy", and now I'm not only a "Meta person", but a "React person" talk about reinventing yourself 😅 ⚛️
I joined CM as an iOS engineer, ended up doing Android immediately after joining and somehow found myself supporting dozens of reports (during COVID!) It was a pretty wild ride. (Here's me in the launch video for our Apple Pay integration www.instagram.com/p/B5prFHlHuYx/)
Here's a piece of confetti I saved from when we launched Citymapper Pass (www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2019...)
It was the first product at Citymapper I worked on 0 to 1. Took us 3 months I think? People liked it! It worked! It was EXCITING!
I just realized the other day, that I've been at Meta longer than I was at Citymapper - my first job in the UK, and the job I stayed in the longest in 20 years.
@ericmigi.com Hi Eric, can’t wait until I get my watch in December. Is there a way for software developers to get a dev board? Or emulator is the best way forward for now?
