Mahers vicious racism and Islamophobia has been on full display for decades now, the reality is that way too many American liberals and centrists are happy and comfortable with that racism; and they are all happy to abandon any number of women to ensure a Muslim man doesn’t become mayor.

“Putting your political opponents in jail because they are your opponents—not because of what they did—is the heart of tyranny. It is an obviously impeachable offense,” says @chrislhayes.bsky.social on the indictment of NY AG Tish James on Trump-ordered charges.

One Star Review of Waiting for Godot on Broadway
I recently attended Waiting for Godot on Broadway and spent over $1,400 for two Row C seats (103 and 104). I'm a longtime admirer of Broadway productions and even hold a season pass for Shea's Performing Arts Theatre, so I came in with genuine enthusiasm and high expectations. Unfortunately, this show was unlike anything ! have ever experienced —and not in a good way.
What I encountered was not the artistry, music, or emotional storytelling I usually associate with Broadway, but instead what felt like an endless cycle of nonsensical conversation between characters who seemed trapped in their own madness. I tried-truly tried-to find meaning, symbolism, or even a thread of emotional resonance. I stayed through the first half hoping the second would offer clarity. But by intermission, it was clear: this was a waste of both time and money.
Keanu Reeves is an actor I respect greatly, but I cannot fathom why he would agree to participate in such a disjointed, inaccessible production. His talent was lost in a performance that defied reason rather than provoked insight.
To anyone considering attending: unless you are drawn to highly abstract, nearly incomprehensible theater, I strongly caution you against this show. For the average, educated, thoughtful theatergoer, it is far more frustrating than fulfilling. In my opinion, this was the single most disappointing Broadway experience I've ever had - an unfortunate waste of money and, more importantly, of time.

WATCH: @chrislhayes.bsky.social explains precisely why Mike Johnson is stalling the new Dem rep's swear-in over the Epstein vote: "Right now, Johnson can pressure the four Republican signers to change their minds. He has time to do it—as long as he keeps Adelita Grijalva out of Congress."

The current paradigm of "AI"— all of its, e.g., embedded values, design, cultural deployment, & structural affordances— has been repeatedly demonstrated to harm both critical skills development & the structure & maintenance of the relational social fabric.

That sounds pretty anti-pedagogical, to me

If we can embrace the Israeli destruction of Gaza City, surely we can take the next step and accept the armed occupation of our own cities.

Darkness does not exist; only light exists.
Darkness is the name we give to a relative lack of light.

They’re kicking Black men out of the military over beards. Three out of five Black servicemen have pseudofolliculitis barbae which is a painful skin condition caused by shaving.

This is blatant discrimination.

Burr’s “‘ey I’m just a schlub, just one of the guys on the job site” stage persona is so effect that it’s easy to forget that he grew up an upper-middle class son of a dentist and his favorite hobby is piloting helicopters. He has no idea who “we” are and never has.

The language of non-consent around AI is really telling. "It's too late to be scared." "It's here whether we want it or not." "You'll have to learn to work with it." "You can't fight the inevitable."

All just variations of "you're not allowed to say no." Creepy technology made by creepy people.

Researchers Just Found Something Extremely Alarming About AI's Power Usage The carbon footprint of generative AI-based tools that can turn text prompts into videos is far worse than we thought.

It's even worse than we thought

"(Energy use doesn't scale linearly), for instance, a six-second AI video clip consumes four times as much energy as a three-second clip."

Sex can advance plot, can deepen character, and, deliciously, be set dressing. Consider, the time-honored and noble tradition of playing porn on huge TVs in gay bars, it's *absolutely* necessary because it keeps the riff raff out.

SO when you grow up in an abusive home, you often don't realize it's abusive.

Because there's a culture of silence.

One way many people recognize abuse for the first time is in talking to other people who are horrified and you realize how bad it is. How abnormal.

Social media is huge for this.

I'm beginning to think the endless right-wing focus on letting comedians make transphobic, sexist, violent, racist jokes without professional consequences wasn't about protecting the freedom to make jokes.

AOC: We should be clear about who Charlie Kirk was. A man who believed that the civil rights act that granted black Americans the right to vote was a mistake… His rhetoric and beliefs were ignorant, uneducated, and sought to disenfranchise millions of Americans.

“I was sick of looking at all those nice, sensible situation comedies,” Mel Brooks said. “They were such distortions of life. .. No one had ever done a show about an idiot before. I decided to be the first.”
