Overall, previously reported social and touch effects on subjective evaluations of images don't align with facial muscle responses during image viewing.
Providing touch to another person generally heightened corrugator facial muscle activity, which is related to negative affect.
Receiving touch did not alter affective facial muscle responses during image viewing but might influence subsequent cognitive processes.
🔑 Key Takeaways:
Providing touch, either to another person or oneself, influenced zygomaticus site responses when viewing positive images.
CT-afferent stimulating touch, such as forearm caresses, dampened the positive facial muscle response to positive images.
📌 Abstract:
The study investigates the relationship between human emotions and the presence of another individual, particularly when touch is involved.
