It is. Because you have choices. You can find community, you can find other options, and you can fight for change. I go to protests, I volunteer with organizations. These are options I, and people in the UK, wouldn't have in Russia. There's still room to move here, we can make change. Russia can't.

I don't think it's acceptable and I think it weakens the argument. So what you're saying is probably false.

It's disrespectful to LGBT people from places where they don't even have hate crime laws, where pride or pro lgbt organizations are unlawful, to compare this, however awful it is, to that. It weakens the argument, and it's just wrong.
