This is incredibly disappointing and disheartening, Larisa. You deserve better. The students in your department deserve better. How absolutely self-destructive on Columbia’s part.

Home in rural Michigan and I find myself quite emotional when driving through farmland that is being devoured by data centers under construction. I resent that so much of what people enjoy in life, myself included, is subsidized by those who are most vulnerable.

This week, I had the opportunity to participate in a "student takeover" event in the humanities. 8 faculty from across the uni were asked to talk about a humanities figure who "changed their mind." I chose to talk about Roxane Gay, who helped me appreciate the complexity of the human experience.

I read "musical weather" several times...and thought this was your way of saying you didn't like storms. I also don't enjoy musical theater.

I left my mom at the checkout line to put something back and she didn’t have any form of payment. I wonder if she felt 1% the anxiety I would feel when left at the checkout as a child.

This week, I’m looking forward to launching my Youth Research Seminar with Long Island high school students. We’re taking a deep dive into research and, I’m hoping, getting some students interested in pursuing careers in science! If you’ve implemented such a program, please let me know.

I haven’t been to Haidilao! So, I can’t say. It looks good - I’d certainly be up for joining you there if I were in town for SPSP.
