All the above same here. In a family of 5, I've been the only one to get consistent therapy and medication. The rest have refused to even "tough it out," it's just straight up "I don't need it" and take everyone else down with you.

I believe heavily in Patient Rights being taught more, as we are all led to believe hospitals are this magical entity. And Americans fear them by default, naturally. Financially and educationally.

They cannot deny you care, but your insurance can.

I sleep better at night paying a hospital directly for their care, instead of me and them having to battle my insurance to get a cent. The cost difference ends up being miniscule now with how inflated insurance is. And save headache.
I can pick what I want, and get it. And know they're getting paid.

Instead of the middle man of privatized insurance anymore.

Worked with surgeons and doctors for years as a career, and seeing more than hogtied by insurance was enough. Passionate doctors can't help their patients, even at their deathbed, and they're overloaded now more than ever. (2/3)
