For what it’s worth - I am an academic and have achieved tenure and promotion to full professor while raising a family & caring for an elder parent. My best advice is to prioritize quality sleep - establish a routine & don’t compromise; worse case scenario, your productivity won’t decline at all

All I remember was that I had to start paying taxes on the CD interest for my college fund in the early 80’s because the interest return was over 10%.

Reagan-like economic boom? You mean when interest rates for a 30 year fixed were double digits along the lines of 10-12% on a good day? The rewriting of history is breathtaking.
