Outside academia, people aren’t well informed about PhD research – and that’s a problem There’s low public awareness of how research is funded.

I agree. War is #ecocide. A stomach-churning, heart-rending, human and more-than-human, climate and ecological catastrophe.

Israel should stop spraying of controversial herbicide in Syria and Lebanon - PAX Over the past weeks, the Israel Defense Forces have been spraying herbicides on agricultural fields in both Lebanon and Syria.

Isreal's herbicide use also violates the sovereignity of the states, and impacts livelihoods of civilians in post-conflict zones. @paxforpeace.nl calls for an immediate stop and compensation for affected farmers. Read our full report and findings here 9/x: paxforpeace.nl/news/israel-...

Glyphosate is a weed killer and its potential health and environmental risks makes this a controversial substance, in particular as Israel did not provide any warning ahead to communities, resulting in civilian exposure risks and wider impacts on ecosystems. 8/x

A large area at the town of Kudnah was affected. This particular area was a small forest which was cut down in January 2025, likely due to need for firewood by local civilians, as seen on @planet.com imagery. But now the complete areas is affected by herbicide 4/x

The spraying continues for days, and the expectation is that Israel is using glyphosate, an herbicide, to kill the vegetation along the border areas. After a few days, the impacts showed up in Sentinel-2 satellite imagery showing degraded vegetation from the spraying lines 3/x

End of January #Israel illegally sprayed herbicide across its borders into #Syria and #Lebanon. Affected communities are concerned over the impacts on agriculture and health. We used satellite imagery to track the 55km long affected area. A thread 🧵1/x paxforpeace.nl/news/israel-...

“The purpose behind the release of herbicide on the villages remains unclear.”

“The purpose behind the release of herbicide on the villages remains unclear.”

Israel has been dumping herbicides throughout southern Lebanon as part of a concerted ecocide campaign to render the region uninhabitable. This has been going on for months with Lebanese journalists & environmentalists regularly reporting on it.

Monica Lennon 'profoundly disappointed' after Holyrood committee shelves ecocide bill Monica Lennon has been left “profoundly disappointed” that her ecocide legislation has been shelved, warning it is “a missed opportunity to protect Scotland’s environment”.

🚨 The Ecocide (Scotland) Bill is dead*. Long live the Bill. 😵

*Ok, well, it’s not quite dead - rather the Bill is ‘paused’ - but who will carry it over the line if its current bearer loses their seat. 😬

🤔 Is the Scottish Ecocide Bill going the way of the UK Ecocide Bill? It’s rapidly running out of parliamentary time and may fall before consensus can be reached.
