I blame the term “backlog.” I refuse to let my bookshelf and my steam library hurt me but they sure try 😆

Hobbies are meant to enrich your life, not to become another source of guilt. They’ll be there when you need them 🫶

Today is Trans Day of Remembrance. My heart goes out to all we have lost and all who continue to struggle against needless hate. I love you all and pledge to work for better days. 🏳️‍⚧️🕯️

Lots of people confusing popularity for virtue these days.

yeah- as someone who was doing their PhD at the height of the pandemic, many of us already had substantial disruption to deal with. now that cohort is junior faculty, and being hit with an even bigger one. if we all have to bail, that missing cohort will have ripple effects for decades

They’re welcome to try, honestly I would really like to see more doctors coming from a background of less privilege but it is a useful profession for anybody who wants to do the work.

Disappointing that the mushrooms didn’t help him, those have actual psychiatric utility in the right hands. (Same with ketamine and ecstasy actually.)

How do you use ecstasy and still not love your fellow humans?

Main character energy is OUT, this summer we’re bringing NPC energy. We’re posted up at the bar dropping lore and suggesting side quests. We’re leaning casually near a locked door and saying “I don’t think you have the key for that” when someone tries the handle. We’re staring at a tree.

is not anything to do with how they will help their constituents but rather “trans people are bad and they should be stopped.”

If you have even a shred of empathy I urge you to consider whether we should tolerate this toward any group of people.

It’s now routine that conservative politicians wake up in the morning, put on clothes, and press on with the idea that their message to the American people, the one that will put or keep them in office, the one centered in their ads, (cont)

Whichever country wants to be the next USA should take heed and snap up the talent now. I don’t like rooting against us but I’d rather see the dream of scientific progress happening somewhere if it can’t happen here.

RFK Jr. threatens to bar government scientists from publishing in leading medical journals The health secretary said the New England Journal of Medicine, the Journal of the American Medical Association and The Lancet are in bed with pharma.

reputable medical journals keep saying that RFK and his pro-disease friends are full of shit and so naturally they must be shunned www.politico.com/news/2025/05...

Great life advice.

Deeply sad. So wasteful in terms of life, money, energy, and potential of both animals and people.

in a place where there’s no bedrock? If federal support is going to come and go at the whim of a single individual or a small group of elites, how can one trust that it’s safe to build anything lasting or worthwhile?

will not be comfortable to start in a place like this where the possibility of these kinds of upheavals exists. Even if there is a fair election and the far right influence in government diminishes, the threat will persist. How can you start a science lab, an institute, a university (cont)

I try to avoid too much doom posting, but here’s this: The instability we’re seeing in the US, especially after the global instability of COVID, has already done serious damage to the fabric of our society. Any kind of large projects, careers, ambitions that unfold over years or decades (cont)

Sleet can disrupt, injure, or worse under some circumstances. I’d be honored to be called sleet by some folks 😅

Why would you ever throw away a name with the kind of recognition that HBO has? It used to mean newer movies on TV, then was synonymous with prestige TV…

RFK Jr. Says Don’t Take Medical Advice From Him, But He’d ‘Probably’ Vaccinate His Kids For Measles Kennedy has long been skeptical of vaccinations and repeatedly made false claims that vaccines cause autism.

Oh now he tells y’all?? After spreading lies and conspiracy theories, RFK Jr. says don’t listen to his advice—as head of HHS. Sir, we already knew. We were just waiting on you to admit you’re unqualified.

I definitely support anyone who has tried to move toward unity since then, don’t get me wrong. I strongly believe that the truth, even when it’s ugly, can be really powerful. Look, for example, at how well developed the German culture against the far right is now while the world knows their past.

Happy birthday to Ms. Fletcher, and anyone who doesn’t know what the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre is please look it up. I’m rather ashamed to admit I wasn’t familiar with it until it was in a TV show.
