I need an entire album of this immediately.

Sometimes, I remember why the Internet can be good. This slaps so hard.
I remember being told as a child, "All the real best writers write for Playboy." Obviously, wanting to read the best writers, I tried to get Playboys, and was viciously denied...
Now, as a grown up, I can read a Playboy, and say:
I have never read a funnier, more devastating essay about protein.
CODE SLOW AND CAREFUL AND GOOD FROM BEGINNING AND THEN WEBSITE WORK LONG TIME
HOMESTAR RUNNER DOT COM HAS NOT STOOD FOR DECADES ON VIBES ALONE
Not saying that’s causal or even correlative really. But it is a long term suspicion that I haven’t been able to drop yet.
After all, Derrida is a punster in French. And I’m confused on why paranomastic (pun-like) thought can’t produce knowledge making tools.
And it seems like every analytic who didn’t have an axe to grind against the sexy murder poets had deep exposure to other language and working with translation.
Again, I’m not in the game anymore. The guns are mounted on the wall. I was not a good soldier.
Yet.
Were I wanting to dismiss an entire sub-field of thought, I would at least double check that I’m not being chauvinist in my thoughts about language, clarity, and knowledge making.
A quick wonder re: the flare up in analytic/continental conflict: I wonder how many contemporary anglophone analytics who are antagonistic to Continental philosophy work with translation and languages outside of their fluency?
I’ve never been terribly satisfied with conceptions of clarity as they have been utilized in the power games that are within philosophy departments.
Appeals to it from (some) analytic folks usually ended up building in the very exaltation of noetic/obvious intuitional judgment they are judging!
Liam’s post, as per usual, is good and gets at something.
I’m also going to have my “touch grass” moment, as being out of the game for a long while has enabled this: clarity and intelligibility, as wielded in the piece Liam is responding to, are still institutionally bound and not some natural kind
I made a giant list of non-AI resources to use for your TTRPGs and other creative pursuits with massive amounts of art that's either in the Public Domain or Creative Commons!
Comment your suggestions!

This week ends with Qingming, the first of the annual Chinese festivals for the dead, a good time to talk about the thriving sense of the gothic in contemporary China's fiction #sff #horror #literature #Cdrama snowpavilion.co.uk/on-chinese-g...
HE's GOT A FUCKING KNIFE
You would get so many more amazing books if you had Universal Basic Income. Not even the most dream-scenario AI could compete with the creativity of a world of authors no longer afraid of affording rent.
So I’m going to play some stupid digital golf and try not to think about the numbers. Maybe figure out what the heck I’m going to do for that game jam.
One of the reasons I haven’t really done scripted long-form content is that I have yet to get used to the whole thing where you pour your heart into something and have it go nowhere. (This should be something I am used to. Alas. I am not.)
Ok, after some sleep, I’ll post this long form video about my gripes with the advice “know your audience.”
youtu.be/7Y7_LO1pUTQ?...
Posted a long video about audience. Don’t really feel like linking it atm. I’m tired and feel incredibly untalented and uninteresting. I’m going to get some sleep. See if I can believe in anything I do when I wake up.
It was worth it to go through the experience though.
a ridiculously fluffy red and white border collie mix reclines on her back, legs stretched out to reveal her tummy, brown eyes alert and demanding skritches. she is unrepentantly beef-scented.
Today my senior dog absolutely crushed a beef knuckle, and trotted around for hours after with bits of marrow in her floof, breathing hotly on anything that moved and smelling heinously of beef. She is the Beeflord, a smell terrorist. I love her so much. 💚
I’m good with it
Co-signing. 11 years out now from my stroke. I promise it didn’t make me a quisling or a fascist.
If there was a show that helped explain who you are to people, what would it be? Mine is (unsurprisingly) Twin Peaks.
If one is in the constant practice of constructing plausible “true-ish” alibis through elision and curated narratives, that might (again, only might) be a sign that you’re trying to hide something from others. And yourself. Might need to talk to a therapist about that, in an honest and direct way.
Honesty about what your values in relationships are, who you are, is so crucial. Any dickering with something like “well I don’t think it’s possible to be completely honest” or just terminating value-finding convos with “I don’t know” repeatedly (when you actually do) is just alibi-making.
The rules and rulesets you create don't have to answer to people who don't choose to use them. They have to answer to the people who do choose to use them.
this is also a thing that would be very nice of you to do
Solo but not Alone is still running, and needs some more gas!
If you've played any of these solo games, help us out and quote-tweet with your fave, or a memory you cherish! Help us show everyone how fun solo gaming can be!

(Actually fuck off with that behavior entirely.)
(Also majoritarian reads of ethical traditions don’t actually exhaust the possibilities of a conceptual framework, y’all. If you don’t have time to dig in, don’t make sweeping generalizations and then just dismiss the outliers, while also claiming to be critics of that behavior in philosophy.)
Literally begging people to read Christine Swanton’s book on Virtue Ethics yet again.
