I think most of those folks are going through something that I'm not gonna be able to talk them through to the other side of, so I try to remember not to engage. (Try being the operative word 😏)

Are you really being attacked by pessimists? Or are you being chided by realists who know a court order, even by SCOTUS, doesn't mean a damn thing to the current administration?

OK, I hear you. Some things to think about:
Not all pessimistic ppl are *choosing* to be pessimistic. Some are dealing with depression. Some have had shit lives that have taught them to expect the worst.
There's a difference between pessimistic and realistic. No one is served by toxic positivity.
