Having laid out my arguments, and thought about them carefully, I end this essay in a cautiously opti-
mistic frame of mind. All things considered, my remaining anxiety about LLMs seems to boil down to
verification. Can we trust ourselves to thoroughly vet every single output of the LLMs we use? In the-
ory, we must commit to this, if we are to avoid contaminating the literature with not only things that are
wrong, but things that are right yet unsourced. In practice, however, that Rubicon of trust was already
crossed in cosmology long ago. When was the last time you repeated an N-body simulation just to see
if the original authors did it right? What LLM use must really force us to do is consider whether we are
happy and satisfied with this status quo.

I like this approach from Natalie Hogg — many of the allegedly unprecedented problems of working LLMs are things that are already true of working with other people and other people’s code and we live with them just fine

caberQU caberQU shop

was reading an older post by @thurrott.bsky.social about his frustrations with USB cables - and I have to say - I just acquired a caberqu.com USB cable tester and it is perfect for finally going through and trashing bad USB C/C or USB A/C cables. It easily tells me the data and power in seconds!

Most well made USB-C cables now say the data/power at each end for easy visibility. Older ones often have it printed on the cable itself in tough-to-read fonts...

Crawl, Walk, Run with Copilot + Agents | Reed Wiedower Crawl, walk, then run. It sounds simple - but with the allure of Copilot Agents many organizations find themselves throwing information workers into the deep end before they are ready to construct Age...

Microsoft's announcements on Monday around Copilot Wave 3 were quite compelling. Yet most organizations still don't understand that to get *value* from Copilot - you need to start simple. I explain why here: www.linkedin.com/posts/rwiedo...

8675309 is prime, and so is 8675311, so if you ever need a middlin'-large pair of adjacent primes to test your cryptographic suite, all you need is a 1980s earworm and a +2 and you're all set.

And Microsoft is running these data centers on 100% renewable energy (by the end of the year) which helps push back the ill informed narrative that datacenters are using water and burning carbon. #MSIgnite

The interesting perspective for me was that the initial water required to enable an Azure datacenter is the equivalent of 20 houses. And that water, once the initial fill is completed, will be used and reused for six years with no loss.
