Something to consider: “aegilops” is the longest work in English with letters in alphabetical order, and “spoonfeed” is the longest reverse-alphabetical word.

Cunningham was truly amazing and his peak amazingness came right at that moment of childhood and early adolescence where watching sports is at its most magical.

not totally shocked about the National Divorce but a little surprised that the liberal coalition is getting beer, military logistics, the Pope, football, and Plato

Good thread on Palantir. Palantir is unique, but elements of this mindset are not hard to find in Silicon Valley, in the parts of higher ed that seek SV’s favor, and elsewhere. Tricky times if you work in higher ed and view your mission as helping people learn to how to think and do research.

creating an agentic AI system that will plan and execute all of the tasks involved (concept, pitch deck, hiring actors to play founders, negotiating term sheets, et cetera) to complete an early funding round for an entirely bogus startup based on a novel agentic AI idea

Saw a “LUIGI 2028” bumper sticker for the first time on my commute to work today. We may have some turbulence ahead.

Trump is not reliable about either war or peace. It’s not strategy and it’s not a plan, he just enjoys lying for its own sake, messing with everyone, Americans included and his supporters in particular.

It was fun though! I was just meeting a couple of buddies for dinner, then suddenly a microphone and stage appeared, and folks said “Bergstresser they need you to sing!” - I’m not the sort of guy who can say no there

In case you see the whole video, what I say in my defense: I was the first guy up, and they didn’t have the sound going to the stage, so I couldn’t hear the music. And the font size on the iPad was small enough that I could not see the lyrics. So my approximation of “Ice Ice Baby” was from memory.

Very very very good. I was impressed! Gosh, I didn’t realize that was your wife. Yeah, I was with a couple of buddies and they said “karaoke, you have to do this, Bergstresser”, so when I got up to sing I gave the audience one of my buddies’ names.
