Some days were really funny, playing a cute little guy then being fully dead inside.

I’m doing my first ever #pokemon
#nuzlocke! Leaf Green on Switch!

The rules are as follows:

1. Any Pokemon that faints is “dead“ and released permanently.

2. Only the first Pokemon in a new area may be caught. Exceptions for copies.

3. Gotta name your Pokémon so it hurts when they die. 😂

With all that done, it was finally time to face Erika!

Ch’ding easily destroyed all the gym trainers!

Then I faced an unexpected setback.

He hit lvl 31 and got uncooperative.

I forget he was a traded.

Could he pull it together for Erika?

Thankfully yes!

He behaved and got the Rainbow badge!

Oh well.

Mr. Fuji awarded me the Poke flute and I realized a Snorlax down south was up for grabs!

He kept on recovering but eventually I lucked out with a great ball and made him mine!

I named him Sleepy Ace, which was an oc I made when I was 10. He was a Snorlax who dreamed of flying!

Realizing I had a Firestone I intended for Valencia, I gave it to Evelyn and evolved her into Flareon! She took it easy against the ghosts but I deployed her when we battled Team Rocket at the top.

A Koffing SELF DESTRUCTED AGAIN and murdered her!

I guess I’m not ALLOWED to keep any fire types!!!

After getting the Silph scope I happened upon an Ever and named her Evelyn! I returned to Pokemon Tower and encountered a Ghastly which I named Eek!

She was lagging behind so I dropped her off at the day care before ascending the tower!

Since Evelyn only had normal moves, Gianna lead the charge.

I discovered Dark Glasses and gave them to Slim since he had Bite! Squirtle Squad!

Valencia the Vulpix was also doing okay until a damn Koffing self destructed her!

Then I battled Giovanni! His Pokemon were tough and I only lived thanks to plentiful potions and Slim’s tankiness!

With the loss of Frank, I decided to venture back to the Daycare to get Gianna.

Fortunately, I came upon the girl that gives you the Fly HM and that made the trip quick!

I returned to the game corner and Gianna did a great job avenging Frank and evolved into a mighty Graveler!

I expected little trouble… but a Raticate hyper fanged Frank! FRANK! One my my OGs… this one hurt… I really thought I was gonna have a Primeape…

I buried Frank then taught Ch’ding fly and picked Gianna up from Daycare.

Nothing to do but go back into the belly of the Rocket beast…

Knowing I wouldn’t get far without the Silph Scope, I ventured to Celadon instead, slowly leveling Valencia along the way.

I did some shopping, battling some trainers at the Celadon gym, then went for some gambling!

After some illicit earnings, I ventured into the Team Rocket underbelly…

I leveled Valencia up, though it was slow since she had no great direct offense.

Made my way over to the Tower and encountered Kenan!

No trouble first, then he threw out a thrashing Gyarados that nearly killed Bloob!

I won by tanking with Slim then biting him while he hit himself in confusion.

Before that, however, I ventured to Route 8 and encountered a Vulpix!

Also got a blast from my past.

This Muk is horrible! It hardened and minimized and took forever to defeat even with type advantage! It unlocked a memory of hating the same fight when I was ten.

Patience thankfully won. 😂

Easy come, easy go. At least Bobber got us through the tunnel.

Arrived in Lavender town and explored a bit, battling a bunch of fishermen, though still unable to wake the Snorlax blocking the routes.

Slim and Sandy fought their first double battle.

I decided to explore Pokemon Tower a little…

Bobber the Voltorb used Flash to get us through Rock Tunnel!

Early in I encountered a female Geodude that I named Gianna! She was a little underleveled, so I dropped her off to the daycare then carried on!

Things were going well til a Bulbasaur killed Bobber!

Recently, I had a transcendent experience. It cleared my mind on many things.

One is that acting became an idol for me.

If you’re a fellow actor, it might be for you too.

It’s good to have goals and passion, but idolatry of any kind will destroy us before it helps us.

Don’t feed yourself to it.

We journeyed North toward Rock tunnel and encountered a Voltorb on the route! I named him Bobber since he looks like a fishing bobber.

Even better, he could learn Flash! That was great cause I really didn’t want teach it to anyone else!

With that, we delved into the darkness of Rock Tunnel…

Back on dry land, it was time to lay Rockem to rest and go face Surge.

Sandy didn’t know any actual ground moves, but fortunately I had the TM for Dig! With that, he swept the gym flawlessly and we said goodbye to Vermillion City!

I would next board the SS Anne and prepared myself for the gauntlet! Everyone performed admirably and Rockem was proving his worth, bringing in money with his Payday!

Alas, Kenan reared his ugly head and his Pidgeotto crit Rockem into oblivion!

Sandy evolved into Sandslash during the last battle.

I battled everyone on the route then ventured through Diglett cave proper. Unfortunately, Douglas met a swift end against is own kind, thanks to Arena trap.

I got the HM for Cut, the head back and picked up Rockem from daycare. He was now on par with the rest of the party!

I ventured east, popping into Diglett cave and adding Douglas the Diglett to my team, then adding a Sandshrew to the team right after!

I let my wife name her and she gave her the most Sandshrew name of all: Sandy. 😂

But hey, I was now stocked up on ground types which I’d need to battle Lt. Surge!
