So BIG NEWS. I'm moving to Japan in August! As such, I'm going to be needing some extra money!! So MAY 1ST-3RD I will be putting on a fundraising marathon: ACTION 52 SHAKESPEARE. I will try and collect every gift in UFO 50, but your donations will force me to play the legendarily bad Action 52!
Granted, the entire reason for that is because watching things is a social activity in my life whereas reading is not...
I don't really expect this to "unplug me and fix my mindless consumption" or anything, but I am hoping it kicks my butt back into reading more since I can clearly see already how many more shows I'm in the middle of than books.
Had a few old empty journals lying around, decided to turn one into a media journal since I've already got a media thread going but sometimes feel restricted by the character limit.

Wildest way imaginable to find out two of my oldest college buddies apparently were just internet randos who were never friends. Damn. What is the world coming to.
I imagine every year his supervisors contemplate firing him due to low performance, but they can never bring themselves to. He's just so nice, and he's so old, and they saw him coughing up blood in the breakroom the other day during lunch. Maybe keeping him on payroll for another year is fine.
Extremely unimportant, but every All Might scene feels like they're feeding me specifically. Can't believe he has a day job. I know he's woefully average at best at it, and I know he bows when he talks on the phone.
18. My Hero Academia: Vigilantes, Season 2 (Bones, 2026)
Extremely weird to dedicate like 1/3rd of the season to an Aizawa backstory, but shrug. Koichi seems less involved in the story every day. Would watch a whole separate spinoff about Kaniyashiki and Fatgum being a manzai buddy-cop duo though.
Seems it's just part of the way a lot of music gets popularized these days, but I sometimes wonder how seldom some folks hear anything below 150bpm on daily basis these days lol

17. UmaMusume: Pretty Derby - Beginning of a New Era (Cygames Pictures, 2024)
Year of the Horse(girl). Gorgeous and high energy film. Compelling sports anime rival storyline. I can only imagine what a fantastic meal this must be for all the fans of the franchise.
16. Sorry to Bother You (Boots Riley, 2018)
Watch a man punch himself in the face for nearly two hours to appeal to white corporate America just to have it ruin his life, whoops. Expected this one to stay grounded, but it got quite weird, and it was great.
15. Golden Kamuy, Season 5 (Brain's Base, 2026)
Seems "Final Season" wasn't an accurate advertisement. This show generally runs relatively quickly, and between Sapporo and Hakodate it seemed especially rapid. Can't wait to watch [major spoiler] this winter.
14. Trigun Stargaze (Orange, 2026)
Man. Come on. I mean, I was basically just along for the ride, but like. That was the funniest possible way to end what basically became an Everyone Lives AU. Babygirl, why did you do that? What did you expect?
13. Frieren: Beyond Journey's End, Season 2 (Madhouse, 2026)
While I enjoyed the mage exam arc, it feels so good to have our trio back on the road and all together again. Perhaps some of my favorite side-character storylines in this season, and it seems like there will be more to come.
12. 'Tis Time for "Torture," Princess, Season 2 (Pine Jam, 2026)
Candy-sweet comfort show, just as good as season one. Perhaps my favorite way to end the day as it was airing. I listen to very little Kpop, so to see a group I actually listen to do an opening for this was quite a surprise!
11. The Muppets (James Bobin, 2011)
I'm still fresh enough on The Muppets as a franchise to not yet be entirely savvy to this being a common plot for them apparently. Hurts to watch Kermit fumble Miss Piggy so hard again. Man Or Muppet would go crazy at drunk karaoke.
It's not the worst, but it stopped right in the middle of the momentum of the final climax. I might have preferred they stopped like four episodes ago right before things really ramped up to keep it a more consolidated viewing experience.
So sorry to all the anime-only folks, that must have been a hell of a cliffhanger to leave off on.
I am at least looking forward to some rather stellar production quality from them focusing all efforts on making what I can only assume will maybe be half a cour's worth of episodes at most.
It's a bit of a shame the advertisement for this season of Golden Kamuy was a bit misleading. I was hoping I could finally get to ask folks to try it because it was totally finished, but now we have to wait until winter for them to adapt the last 12 chapters of this 314 chapter manga.
