Since 2022 when I became a subject lead for Humanities I have discovered just how powerful a rigorous, coherent RE curriculum can be and how much it underpins and complements other subjects. Important words from Richard Kueh here.
Nice! Looks too light for Green Smoke. Calke, maybe? Or Breakfast Room? 🤔 Put me out of my misery. Which one?
A diverting game is to plot your own lifetime alongside the geophysical breakdown of the earth
I was gifted this one by a colleague for Christmas. Looking forward to it!
My husband and I have had the same for about a week now. I powered through the catering and entertaining on Christmas Day but have been good for nothing since. The cough is the most annoying thing! Hope you feel better soon.

Huge expanses of mangroves on Sri Lanka’s east coast too, this was taken shortly after taking off from Trincomalee heading back to Colombo 🌳 #geographyteacher
Just reposting some geology knowledge organizers I made and posted on Twitter back in the day.
I hope some people find them useful!

Quick reminder - there are over 200 free to download fieldwork resources on my site - with lots of #geographyteacher s now on this platform, let's try to rebuild a community of resource sharers!

Nice to see you over here, Graham 👋
Haven’t been on either platform for a while. Leading the humanities team alongside the ECF Lead and ITEC role is keeping me busy! Great to see so many familiar names that have moved over to Bluesky. Here’s a photo of a different sky from school last week!
Beautiful 5k Samaritans Dawn Walk in memory of our friend, Jon, this morning 🌅🧡
The window is narrowing for residents to evacuate surge-prone areas on the FL West Coast ahead of Hurricane #Milton – now aiming for a second round of Cat 5 strength (top winds up to 155 mph at 2 PM ET). An update from @drjeffmasters.bsky.social and I:

I was sad to miss ResearchED Cornwall today, but I was on parenting duties taking my daughter to a hockey match in Sidmouth. We went for fish & chips and had a mooch around the shops afterwards. Windy day!
Only just spotted this. Thank you @geogmum.bsky.social
Sorry to hear that. We’ve got our trip on Friday next week. Didn’t have a great experience last year, but it was my first year at the school and I didn’t know my colleagues or any of the Year 11s. Hoping for a great day this time!
That reminds me! I forgot that last year we had a table per year group around the outside of the room so families could see how the content/depth changes through the year. Bit like a timeline.
You’re right. My last but one school did the tours that way and these were the two things we did before families moved on. Current school is free rein to go around as they like. We also have our Year 11 subject captains helping, so they take care of the maps while teachers can chat.
Factfulness quiz is a great shout! We use it, and extracts from the book, in our Year 7 curriculum.
We have our Open Evening on Thursday next week. We:
Have a world map and various food. Visitors place them on the country they think they came from.
Big OS map of our area. Visitors add a sticky dot to show where they live.
Examples of pupil work and books.
What other ideas are there?

Felt better than the summer! Hoping to get out mid-week too, but we’ll see.
This is the very thing I was discussing with our ECT2 in our mentor meeting last week.
Hockey mum for me. On Weds night, I’d never seen so much rain ☔️ Yesterday, she had U14s training in the morning and played in a match with the senior ladies team in the afternoon (debut match and scored a goal!). Glorious sunshine; plenty of coffee and cake consumed. Typical Sept weather 🤷🏻♀️
Are you an ECT or TWO teaching RE? Make sure you sign up for our series of free subject knowledge webinars to support you and your CPD.
The first one has already taken place, but there are 10 more. The October webinar will focus on teaching about Islam

'Adaptive teaching: What is it anyway?'
"Adaptive teaching is the subtle, tricky, but compelling stuff of teaching. No lesson package you lift from the Internet can eliminate the necessity for adaptation and responsiveness."

Beautiful morning for a 5.5km run 🏃🏻♀️☀️
