Meta-workflows based on interoperability, harmonisation, democratisation, and sustainability, and that are attentive to the larger bioeconomic context, would expedite the translation of technologies as the core framework of biomanufacturing RIs.

Integrating resources and expertise from both public and private research entities into focused RIs is crucial for the successful translation of ideas into biomanufacturing processes and products.
Biomanufacturing research infrastructures (RIs) manage, consolidate, and distribute facilities, resources, and data among network members and collaborators, thus facilitating the upscaling of research and innovation.
Biomanufacturing faces significant barriers in terms of viability, commercialisation, and acceptance, primarily related to economies of scale and hyped expectations.
New publication in Trends in Biotechnology "A snapshot of #biomanufacturing and the need for enabling research infrastructure", a must read for those interested in the transition from biotech innovation to industrial application. doi.org/10.1016/j.ti...
