GEN McCaffrey was kind enough to let me interview him for my forthcoming book, Imagined World Orders: Tom Clancy and US National Security. During the interview he noted there was one movie he loathed from the 90s for its casual portrayal of drug use. His wife, Jill, provided the name; Pulp Fiction.

Catholic guilt is Murdock's second superpower.
Wow! Would never have guessed that connection, thanks for sharing it!
Amazing that an insurance agent became a prominent voice in national security. Shows the importance of telling interesting stories.
Rainbow Six was the one with the heartbeat detector
Had a lot of fun seeing @pattonoswalt.bsky.social last night. Did not expect Karl Donitz to be at the center of a bit, love seeing history mined for humor.
In making Paul Bremer the first governor of Mars and having him bring in peacekeepers, it looks like Moore may be going back to the themes of Season 3 of Battlestar Galactica. I wrote a chapter in an edited volume on how Moore tackled ideas of war and terrorism in DS9 and BSG, may have to revisit.
Love #ForAllMankind (and pretty much all of Ron Moore's SciFi outings). The bonus mini-vignettes about what happens between season jumps that also explain the real historical inspiration for creative decisions are fantastic. Great mix of history and fiction!
Something is wrong about how teams get free timeouts so the refs can check tenths of seconds on the clock
Could replace the single mom with single dad in the post and it would be just as true. Not going to respond to the latter part of your post as that would involve spoilers.
She's right
Project Hail Mary was a lot of fun. Good mix of near-future SciFi and humor
Chuck Norris really died ten years ago, Grim Reaper finally worked up the nerve to let him know.
Yup, there are few movies that leave me silent in awe after. Sinners was one.
Best use of a vampire theme ever.
Sinners has deep meaning and popular appeal, people will watch it for decades. I liked One Battle but it'll be forgotten soon.
Sinners is going to age much better than One Battle After Another. I liked the latter, but the former is a classic that will be remembered far more fondly over time
Venezuela vs Italy for a spot in the WBC championship is something no one predicted. I love baseball.
The crowds at the World Baseball Classic have been incredible. The atmosphere as Venezuela took down Japan was amazing even through TV.
Most accounts have him being deeply enmeshed with IRGC so don't think this changes much
The shift is why we have daylight late in summer nights it's the superior time, make it permanent.
While the lessons from Iraq remain relevant, it is worth noting that when it comes to Furies the start of Operation Iraqi Freedom is closer in time to Urgent rather than Epic.
Playing the Command and Conquer series again, we need to bring back cheesy, live action, B movie style cutscenes in video games
As a Cubs fan I must ask, are we sure St Louis is not part of Iran?
The same group of friends and I have managed to play RPGs together via discord on a weekly basis on a set night for over five years.
So nice to have meaningful baseball in March. #WBC2026
The death of Khamenei and those with the blood of thousands of Americans on their hands is a good thing.
Very glad that in my upcoming book I was able to put Hulk Hogan, Tom Clancy, Nick Cage, James Blunt, George Bush, and Bill Clinton into conversation with each other.
Incredible puck control, what a goal for the gold! USA!
