What people don’t realize is the atmosphere at the Super Bowl and Final Four, played at neutral sites, is all but dead. Of course small areas are reserved for fans of the competitors, but they are relatively small, so the NFL and NCAA use loud music and other noise to simulate an atmosphere.

I’ve been to four World Cups, in the U.S., France, South Korea and Qatar. Looked forward to this one for years but no way am I going now. This is an event for the 1 percenters, not the fans, on top of the politics. The crowds will be there to see and be seen, not to cheer. Count me out.
