Love the Care singles, such bright pop full of ideas
Aw thanks, much appreciated โซโช๐โชโซ
Good news - for the first time in 40 years there are official Strawberry Switchblade T shirts, so we can get them in whatever size we've become over years! Distributed by @nightschoolrecords.bsky.social who released the 1982 4-Piece Demo EP

Absolutely love this Japanese cover of Since Yesterday

Plus Since Yesterday is regarded as a proper pop classic in Japan, soooo many covers from artists there โซโช๐โชโซ
Just did a quick count, more than 30 new Strawberry Switchblade covers released in the last 3 years! It's gathering momentum with the groundswell of interest in the band since the Trees & Flowers demo got popular โซโช๐โชโซ
All these are among the 100+ covers of Strawberry Switchblade songs on our YouTube playlist

At a very different point on the noise scale, this slow metal instrumental cover of Strawberry Switchblade's Go Away, making the album's piano riff into a looming guitar riff

Even shorter is the 1997 ska-punk cover of Since Yesterday by Japanese band Potshot

Strawberry Switchblade's Since Yesterday, reinterpreted by contemporary Austrian anarcho-punksters Harsh Response who blast through it in under 2 minutes. ๐งต

On this day in 2002, ex Strawberry Switchblade singer/guitarist Rose McDowall played a beautiful short solo set at the 500 year old St Olave's church in London. In keeping with her goth aesthetic, the church has carved skulls over its gateway! Here's Since Yesterday

What do you think? Is the album best appreciated on carefully ordered old school physical formats or is it better to immerse yourself in the 20-track extravaganza?
So the CD reissue with it all in 1 sweep & a bunch of extra tracks (that's the standard track listing on streaming services too) doesn't deliver the intended flow. But we surely can't see the likes of Poor Hearts & the extended Trees and Flowers as detrimental?!

Side 2 also opened with a bright single - Let Her Go - & ended with a sombre atmospheric orchestrally-augmented track. The lush Michel Legrand-esque strings on Being Cold bring side 2 to a profound & resonant end

Strawberry Switchblade's album was released on this day in 1985! In the era of vinyl, the album was 2 separate sides, side 1 opened with Since Yesterday & ended on 10 James Orr Street with Andrew Poppy's arresting epilogue demanding you sit quietly & let it resonate ๐งต

Strawberry Switchblade, with Rose's trademark Antigua finish Fender Coronado II taking pride of place. She bought the guitar from James Kirk of Orange Juice, who also thought up Strawberry Switchblade's name & played on their first two BBC radio sessions. Thanks, James!
Craig Hood had previously published a couple of solo versions of Trees and Flowers, including this one from 2010:

On this day in 2014, Strawberry Switchblade's Jill Bryson released a new version of Trees & Flowers with her new band The Shapists. The Shapists were Jill Bryson with her daughter Jessie Frost, and guitarist Craig Hood. Stream/download it on Bandcamp

Because Strawberry Switchblade's Let Her Go wasn't a hit, unlike Since Yesterday there were very few TV performances. We only know of two!
Here's the first, from UK kids' TV show Saturday Superstore, 16 March 1985

It was actually made after the single & was released two months later as the bonus track on the UK 12" of follow-up Who Knows What Love Is. All 5 of Strawberry Switchblade's UK singles had an extended remix, though 2 (this & Who Knows What Love Is) aren't on streaming services.
