There was never a chance it would be anything else because there's no way they can bank on the back-catalogue of the music.

Be very careful about using MJ in Spider-Man bsky circles, lol.
Their cousins the killer whales asked them, “do you even lift” and they took it personally.
She told them to call her "Ms. Jackson" because they were nasty.
You can't have a honest movie about Michael Jackson until you break past the big lie about vitiligo. Vitiligo is not a naturally occurring condition, it usually comes from a side effect from chemical exposure, such as bleaching. Ergo Michael took skin lightening techniques that botched badly.

Jordan helping a guy is cool.
Will Smith did something wrong and stupid but on the scale of the horrible stuff that happens elsewhere in Hollywood and so on, it feels more forgivable.
He finally made it official.
The public library reference desk, where you can help a child with some Lilo & Stitch coloring pages while also helping an adult with tenancy dispute forms and raging about shitty landlords.
RIGHT NOW -- Veterans are being arrested in #washingtondc after peacefully demanding an end to the War on Iran. @vetsaboutface
Like before AI it’s hard enough challenging bad ideas like the SW prequels used only CGI as opposed to using more practical than the OT. But now it will be like AI trains on RLM and that becomes harder than ever to challenge. It’s a kind of tyranny. And that’s why tech companies are in favor.
There’s a kind of nuts and bolts realism. Like the world is over but you show up next day to futilely continue seeing if you can help but repeat that futility again and again, till you die and you see the next generation degenerating further beyond hope. It makes The Road look like comfort viewing.
Yeah AI means endless reiteration that has already been done before AI not doing stuff that’s new and challenging stuff that came before. So it’s about the ideas and stuff set now being the only ones going forward
Threads was hard going to watch for me. Total complete collapse like it’s never been done before or since.
I don't want to have to do homework before going to see a movie, especially if that homework requires redoing something I have already done.
"It's absolutely critical that we bring Morbius back to theaters. We will not understand Doomsday without Morbius.
It's Morbin' time."
-Joe Russo, presumably
Somehow Downey returned.
Whiskey "Avengers Endgame"s with the Russos.
Peoples biggest complaint about these movies is that it’s like doing homework now and this is not beating the allegations
John Milton maybe improved on it with Paradise Lost, everything people know about Satan comes from there and not the Bible, even among people who've read neither Bible nor Milton, so obviously most people agree.
The Last Temptation of Christ (book and film) made Jesus into a three-dimensional character, a bit like if Shakespeare wrote a play about Jesus and made him like Hamlet and Falstaff combined. It's the most persuasive fictional rendition on that lines, unlikely to be improved.
The Ewoks being created to sell toys is an old and debunked canard. By that logic, Chewie and Yoda and Vader and others were also created to sell toys as was Han and Luke. And in either case, the ROTJ toyline didn't actually sell well. The movie was successful as a movie because people liked it.
CASABLANCA is a movie I can show to 10 year olds, while COME AND SEE is a movie adults find difficult to see. They are all about fighting fascism but there's a difference in register. SW is for kids. It's an entertaining film for all ages. It's not The Sorrow and the Pity in outer orbit.
She was consistently dumb.
She had an ethics that was impossible to realize on reality which cool there’s a lot of that going on but it called for active hypocrisy and contempt mixed with self righteousness.
The Bond villain aesthetic is big in neoliberalism.
Like yeah the 90s had big blockbuster but it wasn’t always old IP or hegemonic IP. You also had a middle film that doesn’t get reflected in that list. The 90s had romantic comedies earning a fair bit and so on which isn’t true these days. Or not often. 2
Independence Day was about using modern effects to show an alien invasion in more realism than 50s films. It wasn’t nostalgia (Mars Attacks was). Same with Juras Park, dinos but real. And The Phantom Menace was about reinventing SW leading to rejection by fans who wanted it to resemble the 70s. 1/
Discovery cuts both ways. It might mean The Atlantic have to reveal and name sources too in the process. But mostly this is just bluster and assuredly the magazine, which is owned by Steve Jobs’ widow and is center right, prepared and expected this to happen.
