“While the camera crew reloads the intricate technicolor camera, Carole Lombard, Fredric March, Charles Winninger and Walter Connolly rehearse a scene of the David O. Selznick production Nothing Sacred (1937). To the right, microphone in hand, is director William A. Wellman.”

Paper should actually be handled with your bare hands! You’re less likely to damage the paper and the oils in your hands don’t do as much damage as people think. Photographs should always be handled with gloves, though cotton gloves aren’t really used anymore

You truly never know! Could still be 👀

i’m watching this new hallmark movie about an archivist and i am in so much pain they have an actual microfilm reader and then he uses cotton gloves to handle paper #ToPhillyWithLove

And this might be one of the most accurate likenesses I’ve lowkey ever seen in an Old Hollywood poster lmao

Oh I was just joking since all of his patients are women in the poster 😂

Actually obsessed with this (he’s a gynecologist in the Swedish version, apparently)

The movie poster is a stylized illustration of Lew Ayres as Dr Kildare, in his white hospital scrub-style uniform, and a young pretty brunette in a bright, medium pink short-sleeved dress, with pink fingernail polish, pink lipstick and rosy pink cheeks. He is taking her pulse while looking at his watch and counting, to determine her heart rate. His face is serious and focused and he hasn't noticed that the young woman obviously has a crush. She's focused on him, blushing and leaning her face towards him.
The background is a light caramel colour at the top which darkens in the middle and turns into a chocolate brown about halfway down. Various shades of light caramel are used for everyone's skin tone.
In the background are the faces of other pretty young women, possibly waiting to see him. Their faces and shoulders are visible but the rest of them fades into the background. They are wearing hats and/or makeup in various shades of chocolate and a lot of the same pink that is elsewhere on the poster.
The title of the movie is a little more than halfway down, and is at an angle. The text is in white when it's in front of her pink dress and then in pink when it's in front of his white uniform. The credits below that change from white to chocolate brown when in front of his uniform. There is a black and white logo with the MGM lion in the bottom left corner.
It's really an attractive poster, something you'd be willing to hang on the wall.

A Swedish poster for Young Dr Kildare (1938). At the top it reads, "Doctor of the day - everyone's favorite."
I love the stylized illustration, how they've used varying shades of only a few colours, and how different the selected colours are from what would be chosen for a North American poster.

it's why the announced la la land stage musical would never work--it is an ode to the movie musical and its format as a film is necessary to understand its meaning

they could have at least stuck with mgm songs (nacio herb brown, etc.)!

Ginger Rogers and Lew Ayres

Yeah so he is just going to keep doing the thing where we are in a constant state of uncertainty, confusion, stress, and tension because that is what abusive people do and the people who are in a position to address this are asleep at the switch.

Photo of a shorthaired grey cat sitting up on an overturned white parasol on top of a light colored rock. A white sheet is draped behind it. It seems clear that this was all arranged deliberately to gather light for this very successful photo shoot of the cat.

In Korea, when the president declared martial law after midnight and erected barricades in Seoul, congressional reps from all parties ran into the streets, yanked ak47s from the army at the barricades, broke down the locked door to Congress, repealed the martial law order, and arrested the president
