Transmission Congestion 101. This is the snapshot of the Entergy New Orleans load shed event. Look at the negative pricing (dark blue) just ~200 miles away from the $2,000/MWh (dark red) in Southern LA

Learned last night that we’re getting a Netflix miniseries on the Garfield assassination with Michael Shannon as Garfield and Nick Offerman as Chester A. Arthur, and how are we not all talking about this? www.netflix.com/tudum/articl...

ERCOT did a study in 2018 about the dynamical effects associated with high renewable penetrations. A lot of the favorite new concepts we've learned with the Iberian blackout showed up here: interarea oscillations, dampening, synchronous condensors, system strength:

* they don't know if 10% or 25% would apply
* no CBP mechanisms exist for measuring/valuing electricity
* lol wheel-throughs 🤷‍♂️
* the federal government has provided no instruction or clarifications

the last one is just gross negligence and incompetence from the admin (also, not surprising)

some actual CDR thoughts:

Load is obviously overcooked, but I do like the ELCC numbers as a lazy adjustment (though I still would prefer a large number of scenarios studied, closer to what they have internally).
Gives us around 15-20% imo into 2029, similar to last few years just diff mix

Original Game of Thrones meme: a random swordsman in a tavern asks "The Hound" (Sandor Clegane) "You're gonna die for some chickens?"
Clegane responds "Someone is."

Here, the swordsman has a MAGA hat on and a Trump flag next to him, and is asking "you're gonna die for trans people?"

Clegane--now wearing a modern US army helmet and flanked by the flag of the United States Army, depicting, among other things, a blue cannon and flags on a white field, with a banner reading THIS WE'LL DEFEND, and the date 1775--responds with the same: "Someone is."

"WEIM cumulative benefits approach $7 billion"

I love these cheerleading reports all the ISOs make where their value is always self-reported and "yuuge".

Not saying they don't provide value, but bit on the nose to act like transfers only happen in ISOs.

mr. president you have made the scientists furious. the only way you can win them back is by unilaterally cancelling all student loan debt. but they're saying you're not strong enough to do that sir.

"Due to unforeseen system technology issues the posting of the February FTR Monthly Auction results will not be achieved today. " - MISO

They've had 12 days since the auction closed while most ISOs take a couple days at most.

Managed to find a pic of their infrastructure, might explain the issue.

Increasing understanding that friction can be socially beneficial, eg. it’s better if you have to go to physical casino to gamble rather than seamless mobile gambling. I increasingly think that ‘fuzz’ is something we should consider in this way as well: can be bad to have accurate instant feedback.

I feel we’re pretty suddenly in a place where a LSE can own an asset in a neighboring BA and not be able to rely on it because the other BA is willing to black out its neighbors to lower its risk
Holding companies and lucky weather patterns limited this before
