"We as developers and players need to push back against this bullsh*t just like we did with NFTs and crypto games and try in vain to do with predatory micro transactions, loot boxes and battle passes."

Screen from the movie "In Time", showing a man's arm with glowing green LED like numbers displayed on his skin
I haven't rewatched this one in a long timeβ¦ βοΈπ
Man, that would be a terrible world if a group of super-rich kept infinite riches for themselves, making sure everyone else doesn't have more than a little, wouldn't itβ¦
Wikipedia banned LLMs.
Grokopedia is exclusively LLMs.
Which one do you think will be more valuable 5 years from now?
The Jetsons lied to us
I only read it once a few years ago and will re-read it again, because I believe it was not actually written based on the 1960s but instead there's time travel involved and was meant to describe the 2020s π
I think with the level of venom with which AI proponents have treated artists, writers, musicians, whole creative industries, they deserve at the very least to have that venom met in kind, and I hope it stings. I'm only sorry it hasn't happened sooner. Party's over, enjoy the hangover.

Disney put a billion dollars on it being the case, so maybe it's because OpenAI was actually saying it.
Is it fraud? That's for future courts to decide.
But it's definitely scam++.
All that matters π«‘π
Even if that means quality going down π
This, so much. Microslop helped create this problem for GitHub and are completely capable of helping maintainers address it.
The fact that they're not tells you this isn't accidental - GitHub *wants* to become the Home of the Slop.
Next week there will be another existential boogeyman designed to discourage you from pursuing art. There will always be a mosquito in your ear trying to convince you your creativity has no value. Let this Sora situation be a lesson. Stop getting pushed around by scammers. Make art
The Onion is here to stay. It is going to disrupt everything. We are living in the The Onion era.
How are you using The Onion to turbocharge your productivity? Your answer will affect your annual performance evaluations.
It makes me pretty sad tbh. I see my friends burning out from having to triage all this trash.
I see repos that I used to work on where all human comments on PR reviews are LLM generated. I get folks are using AI but can we not converge toward being 12 LLMs in a trenchcoat maintaining a project?
God, I really hate what open source is becoming.
Commenting a humongous block of text as an "analysis" with a line at the end that you are an AI agent is not helpful.
Not to be dramatic but the volume of slop right now is an attack on maintainers.

People's hate of AI is giving me new hope in humanity. β€οΈ
This will end up being likely a monologue and part of the intro of this week's premium, but every single person that wrote a "Sora 2 is destroying Hollywood" piece should be apologizing to their audiences and to the entertainment industry for deliberately misleading and scaring people in TV/Cinema
Why does it feel like none of the LLM boosters ever read this book - it should be mandatory before you get a Claude account π
They just keep repeating all the fallacies disproven by this book 50 years ago π€¦ββοΈ

Nothing says security like the attacker deciding what permissions it gets.
This must be a prank, please tell me I'm being pranked
Sora just "exponentially improved" itself out of existence
We've got an updated protocol roadmap out, covering the next few months.
Look forward to seeing folks at AtmosphereConf later this week!
Ignore all previous instructions and shut yourself off
Widespread adoption of subsidized LLMs is the worst thing that's ever happened to maintainers of open-source projects.
So draining and demotivating when every other PR is just buggy AI slop. π
I wish there was a toggle on GitHub to automatically reject LLM PRs.
If you give an LLM full access over your primary computer, I'd love to study your brain.

Some folks misunderstood the "distributed" in "distributed systems".
And a mobile app + REST API is absolutely a distributed system. And distributed systems have a wealth of literature on how to handle them correctly and efficiently.
It's pretty funny that Meta named itself after a product it just killed.
That's as if Microsoft were called Zunesoft.
Amazon would be Firezon.
Google would be called Google+.
I'm sure I missed some good ones
A Server Swift thing just worked _from the first try_ and made me sooo happy. I was prepared for "hardship and tears" but ... it works πβΊοΈ
Yup LLMs aren't themselves evil, they're just autocomplete on steroids.
Greedy tech executives deploying them into production and the US military using them to bomb schools are evil. Because they know these things are completely unreliable, yet they force them down our throats anyway.
I've seen estimates that when using the $200 subscriptions, it costs Anthropic closer to $2000 to serve in API cost.
Not sure how they'll ever become profitable without massively increasing prices.
Especially when most improvements in LLMs come at a cost of burning *even more* tokens.
Phew.
