Federal Reserve: Without tariffs, inflation would have dropped to pre-pandemic levels during 2025 New study finds that tariffs were responsible for the "entirety of the excess inflation in the core goods category."

The Federal Reserve shows that without Trump's tariffs, inflation would be back down to pre-pandemic levels. And this doesn't even include the more recent price spike due to the illegal Iran war. Biden's policies were working.
Anyone who thinks Republicans are better for the economy is flat wrong.

BOOGIE-WOOGIE

You shout from the other room
You ask me how to spell boogie-woogie
And instantly I think what luck
no war has been declared
no fire has consumed
our city's monuments
our bodies our dwellings

The river didn't flood
no friends
have been arrested
It's only boogie-woogie
I sigh relieved
and say it's spelled just like it sounds
boogie-woogie

                        --Adam Zagajewski (1945-2021)
(Translated, from the Polish, by Clare Cavanagh.)

A “missed” result from a colorblindness quiz

Same here—I’ve done design-adjacent work with color for much of my professional life and so expected to get 100%, but I missed the same one in the same way

Democrats don’t have a Fox News bullhorn to aid in messaging, but I would have preferred a doubling down: “no, really! Deplorables!” and then a multi-week campaign of methodically smearing them with every neo-Nazi in their ranks… but what do I know

Even democratic politicians seem afraid to point at MAGA as a whole and flatly label them as bumbling incompetents who shoot themselves in the feet every day

Though it seems like it would be an easy sell to me

Only 23% of government workers believe they “can report a suspected violation of a law, rule, or regulation without experiencing retaliation.”
That's way down form the share the prior year (72%) who said they could report suspected illegal activity without fear

They’ve also got to tell a story of 40+ years of that stewardship shifting money from public pockets to the already wealthy

(To avoid being blamed anew for the economy after every election)

But they would also have to admit many neoliberal policies were bad, break with own party like Trump did

I think the answer is to get more aggressive and explicit about incompetence

You see regular people talking about how the economy always poops the bed under Republicans, but I never see Democratic politicians calling Republicans incompetent stewards, *useless* at everything they put their hands to

The only “libs” I can remember folks on the right copping to liking are like… Bernie?

But Newsom’s not firm on any ideals/values at all. He offers limp choice between:

- “party that sells out your country to billionaires” and
- “party that sells out to billionaires, but with more throat-clearing”

Kill Chain On the automated bureaucratic machinery that killed 175 children

How Palantir, not Anthropic, led US bombs to kill 175 civilians, mostly 7-12yo girls, in a school in Minab, Iran on Feb 28. How embedding automation - not LLMs in this case, just image processing and sensor fusion - in military workflows mutes human judgment, causes errors, & diverts accountability.

Totally agree, but will say there are big accounts that’ve made a regular sport of bashing Bluesky users (tempting to tag, but already experienced their super fans screaming at me a couple weeks ago)

But so I understand people getting knee-jerk about it because bad faith critiques are def happening

Plenty of blame on American police as well, for kettling, gassing, and beating peaceful protesters for 10+ years—ever since BLM asked us all to take a closer look.

For example: a protesting coworker—with kids in tow—was threatened by MAGA as cops watched, smiling. Chilling effect has been real.

Same with a “commander in chief” who just says things like “I don’t know” when you ask him why his army is doing war crimes
