mRNA technology may be THE most underrated and unfairly scrutinized (fuck you COVID antivax crew) medical breakthrough in my lifetime.

Like... The things this is already showing it can do in the last 5-7 years is incredible.

Ugh. No, Einstein never said doing the same thing repeatedly and expecting different results is the definition of insanity. Nor would he have, it's a fallacy. Doing the same thing repeatedly *increases* the probability of a different outcomes, literally the opposite is true!

Just going to point out that this tweet pretty much kills any defamation claim pretrial. 'I'm not concerned and keep doing it'. Tiny brains, every single one of them a 12-year-old.

Kudos to the team at Compulsion Games for the BAFTA! It was a long hard road David started us on eight years ago, but y'all brought it all home. Bravo!

Spoiler: no lawsuit will ever be filed.

Sometimes it's fun to just ask the LLM to explain in general terms what I need to do to accomplish a task and then take it upon myself to do the actual coding. Keeps my brain from turning to slush.

And lately I've been using OpenCode models for truly easy stuff. I don't think it'll ever happen but if we could squeeze Sonnet down onto a 12 GB single GPU, *none* of this stuff will ever be worth paying for. Which is prob why it won't ever happen.

If you don't do it, I strongly suggest moving between models within the same conversation and dev session unless you're paying for Anthropic's stuff in which case, obviously, you just stick with that. Gemini fast for easy, Gem pro for medium, Claude if you want beautiful and one-shot works.

Now to be fair, Sonnet used 99% of what Gemini had done so it was alllmost there. It was a couple of lines of conflicting CSS that needed changes. Gemini got the hard part (JS) right and ate shit on the easy part, and Sonnet nailed it. Anthropic's coding stuff is just better. Period.

It got most of the way there, fast/planning created a solid plan and I had Gemini pro 3.1 (low) implement it, but it didn't work. I switched to pro 3.1 (high), and it supposedly identified a bug and fixed it, but it still didn't work. I switched to Claude Sonnet 4.6 (thinking) and it one-shot it.

I tasked Google Gemini (fast/planning) to create a plan to modify the top navbar on my site that was a static part of the page to make it dynamic so if you scrolled up it would reappear no matter where in the page you were. This is pretty standard mobile stuff but Gemini couldn't do it.

This CNBC "story" consists of nothing but a headline, yet was written 4+ hours ago and was updated 6 minutes ago... what precisely was updated lol

The near complete lack communication from Bluesky about this 12+ hour outage/degradation really makes me think this thing isn't going to be around for very long. Not only can't they fix this in a 12-hour period, they can't find five minutes to explain any of it. That's a bad moon rising.

Counterpoint: I use em dashes with abandon and will not let "AI" steal them from me. I was overusing them first and will continue to do so long after "AI" is a crater in our financial system, or our merciless overlords, or both

I'm rooting for China because China wants to do science, Bezos just wants to be first. That's an easy call.

Maybe they should.

The Bsky people have a great deal to learn about communication. Not only is the zero useful information on that site after 6+hours, they still haven't even corrected the "region" misspelling.

1. I'm 46 and still finding ways to improve myself and be a better person nearly daily. If you judge someone for that then screw off.

2. It's him or Susan Collins gets another 6 years to vote for everything Trump wants to do just like she's been doing all along.

Knock this shit off.

Also it's deeply unprofessional and confidence sapping. It feels like I'm working with a 12-year-old.

I dislike how Gemini gets gradually more ... I don't know, emotionally excessive with language when you're iterating with it, trying to fix an issue and keep failing. By the time it gets to "this is the nuclear option" you know it's just guessing and flailing and it's gonna be a long night.

this website is really the wild west! I have gotten (a) helpful advice (b) accusations that I think Europeans donโ€™t bathe โ€” I know yall do I just know that our hair dryers donโ€™t work there and (c) a claim that I am conforming to โ€œpedo beauty standardsโ€ by not wanting to leave my house with wet hair

Counted my open tabs in Firefox (I'm already using several tab groups) and it's become a real mess since I enabled the setting to re-open tabs on browser relaunch. 62 tabs. Yahhh okay. Cleaning.
