Every year, every battle, every lesson—proof that I have been doing this work, standing in it, for a long time. And still, Facebook memories pull me back through it all at once—the exhaustion, the fight, the weight of knowing none of it has ever been enough. 4/4
Three years ago, I was in Montgomery, Alabama, fighting against conservative anti-protest bills designed to criminalize resistance and choke the breath out of those who dared fight state violence. 3/4
Seven years ago, I was in a room full of Black law students, telling them about how the law itself is structured against us. 2/4
On this day, ten years ago, I was in a fourth-grade classroom, teaching Black children in a world that had already decided against them. Nine years ago, I was at Brown University, teaching a college course I had built with Kandy that spoke back against educational violence. 1/4

So a really cool thing has happened—I just signed on as a Poetry Editor-at-Large for Texas Review Press today! This means I’ll have full freedom to acquire one poetry book a year and to edit one-on-one with the author throughout the whole process. I’m so so excited.
A lot of academics are also very bad teachers of undergraduates & graduates. They didn't develop the specific skillset of being educators. That's a specific set of skills that isn't automatic with a PhD. They're not really reaching their students, & their students aren't coming away with anything.

Please recommend someone. I will pay her full rate, even if it isn’t covered by my insurance. It's worth it for me. My job, compounded with my other responsibilities, are weighing heavily on me.
-extra points if she's knowledgeable about hostile working environments. I am not interested in anyone who promotes false optimism, toxic positivity, or uncritical joy.
I need a Black woman therapist who has experience working with activists, organizers, and movement workers. I would prefer someone who is not a liberal, conservative, Zionist, or capitalist and who has a rigorous analysis of suffering, particularly in the context of antiblackness-
Good morning.
Antiblackness is the foundation of the modern world-system.
Scenes of Subjection, page 55: "How does one account for the state of domination and the possibilities seized in practice? How does one represent the various modes of practice without reducing them to conditions of domination or romanticizing them as pure forces of resistance?" -@TianaReid
