Once again, I have forgotten to remind folks for multiple weeks that Violent Delights is in prelaunch on Kickstarter.
It's a chess-based RPG about Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliet, and apparently it's quite good!

My work email is in the link tree in my bio
1 consistent style but many enemy designs. That said, I'm not looking for an artist right now bc I need to save up in order to pay that person appropriately, so I was really just looking for advice from other developers
Cool if I follow you?
The first place you go to find answers is the city of Cadence. The normally safe cobblestone streets are empty save for Demons on the prowl & the victims they leave behind. To find answers, you'll have to fight. Good thing you can return to the Mansion through the same sword that brought you here.
First, the Magic Mansion! This is where your Branded awakes at the beginning of the game, its sole inhabitant a strange, yet kind, woman named Cassiopeia. She offers help the best way she can; by giving you strength in exchange for Tithe, a resource collected from the Demons that hunt you.
But first, as with my previous posts, you can wishlist Branded For Sacrifice on Steam here! Please give it a check-out, and wishlist if it seems interesting, as it'll help more people see my games!

Just 3 days left until Branded For Sacrifice goes live on Steam! Now that we've met the Branded, it's time to get to know the various locales you'll explore during your adventure! #thread #indiegame #gamedev #solodev #jrpg #newrelease #under$10 #steam
Pretty varied mix of humanoid and non humanoid. All of them will be presented on cards, so I've got this vision of like... Elden ring mixed with magic the gathering. These are just a handful of them
I think it's always good to have a backup, I'm taking notes lol
Appreciate you responding but I'm actually not looking for anyone anymore π I've made a loose agreement with an artist already, and I'm saving funds to hire them
I see, the secret ingredient is friends! If only I could find some ππ€π€π€π€
Followed though! And reposted your pinned post
Hello everyone π
My name is Orion Darkvale. Iβm a digital artist, and I create custom artwork based on my clientsβ requirements. I continue working on each piece until my client is fully satisfied with the final result π
Here is the link to my portfolio: www.artstation.com/studio-orion...
It's a dark fantasy game, variety of human and non human enemy designs. Not looking for artists anymore at the moment though, sorry π I was more looking for advice on managing the budget of it all lol

Thanks! Like I said, I think I've got an artist to work with on this project now, and I need to start stockpiling money to pay them π
I'll be happy to share the artwork (and compare to my original phone sketches as well) when/if I have them in hand!
I'd like everything to be fairly consistent as far as detail level, although the designs will vary in range of humanoid to abstract
Bsky doesn't give me notifications, sorry lol
I'm going fully custom, and then variants will have pallet swaps. As for paying for it...I'm just going to save money from my paychecks and buy a bulk commission order π€£
Well I actually got a lot of engagement on this post on Threads (surprising, my gamedev posts usually die over there) and I think I'm going to just save up for a bulk commission order. Benefit of being this indie is, I don't really have a schedule to keep
Hey SoloDevs and IndieDevs? How do you do art for your games? I just tallied up the enemy list in my next project and found out I am looking at a sizeable (for me) expense if I want to commission art for the RPG, and I definitely do.
2 things: I will NOT use AI & prefer not to "pay" in exposure
You can wishlist the game here, if you want to help the devs out: store.steampowered.com/app/2288520/...
BAFTA pulling a trailer for an autobiographical game about surviving sexual assault only hours before it was said to be a part of a showcase is an exceptionally bad look.
If you're a small indie game dev, don't try to be too professional. Professionalism only matters when you've hit the mainstream.
First, you need to appeal to people who mainly play indie games. These people like devs to be human and interesting.
You can attract people for you, not just your game.

And that's all 4 classes! What should I talk about next? Locations? Bosses? Please, engage with me!! π€£
Branded For Sacrifice is available 4/23 on STEAM
Following! π€
Get to know the playable classes of Branded For Sacrifice! Last & also least, we have The Wretch. He has lower starting stats than every other character, & only has his starting weapon, a knife πͺ to carry him through the game. However, all his stats scale MUCH faster than the others. Risk = Reward
