That was my thought too. The installer agrees with me. It's kind of dumb to run the battery down overnight feeding the grid then have to buy off the grid to boil the jug first thing in the morning before the solar kicks in

We've been in touch with the installer and he agreed it shouldn't be going from the battery

Yes, we sell our surplus from the panels. But the battery should be just used for the house. Kind of like a phone: if I charge it, it doesn't give its charge away

That's what I'd assumed would happen. We've had panels for a couple of months and got a battery this week. It feeds to the grid overnight.
I'd have thought the panels would power the house and charge the battery THEN feed to the grid. But we can use the battery overnight. It's flat when we get up

For those who have solar power and a battery (or batteries).
Does your battery feed the grid overnight when the solar isn't working?
