A particularly evil week for ICE flights in Africa. Since Tuesday, ICE has deported people to Algeria, Ethiopia and Kenya, plus two possible third-country removal trips to Ghana, and one confirmed third-country removal trip of 15 Latin American nationals to the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Earlier this evening: dozens of people gathered in Chicago's far north side Rogers (Phillip) Park in support of an 18-year-old Mather High School student and his mother, who, according to the student's older brother, were abducted from the Chicago immigration court at Ida B. Wells Drive in March.

New from me and @lcrw.news : The 120th anniversary of the Azusa Street Revival and 10 years since NAR was at the coliseum for Azusa Now. I spend a lot of time in this world- attending live events. Somehow I was still surprised by the level of hate ok display. Welcome to NAR world.

These murals are a political project rooted in eugenics, using a dead women's body to advance gutter racism under the guise of "memory."

Public art that isn’t - Chicago Reader Chicago takes its public art seriously—which is why a Big Tech-funded mural of slain Ukrainian refugee Iryna Zarutska has drawn scrutiny.

"Remember Iryna is not a grassroots memorial; more so, it is a political campaign funded by men who have been explicit about their ideological goals."

The sightings near state courthouses are especially concerning because people going to court are not only in a vulnerable position, they are supposed to be protected from civil/immigration arrest by IL law.

ICE prowling around courthouses gives me the impression they're trying to skirt that law.

ICE activity in Chicagoland has been on the rise with the temperature the last few weeks. These incidents don't have the spectacle that characterized Greg Bovino and Border Patrol's raids in the fall, but people are still being abducted by federal agents across the city and suburbs.

6 days ago 485 217 5 2

it looks like they really hit cicero and some of the western suburbs this morning—both frequent hunting grounds for ice since long before operation "midway blitz."

6 days ago 13 2 0 0

ice is still here and still kidnapping people and has been notably active this week amid the warmer weather, just without the splash of bovino's gang

Smell of feces, vomit fills crowded ICE facility, detainee's wife says Conditions at the ICE facility in central Phoenix mirror the conditions at a Mesa facility, where people were being treated worse than "animals," lawmakers said.

Many, many brave people are fighting to stop this, and also—our collective failure to stop it from getting this far will haunt us for the rest of our lives.

more on that point and the politics of quantum coming soon

6 days ago 2 0 0 0

This is a good piece for the most part but the thing that's missing from it is how much of a moonshot quantum computing is. Like if we're REALLY lucky we MIGHT have a functioning quantum computer that can do multiple calculations in 20 years

Moreover, ICE must be destroyed
