Imagine if every school had a professional nutritionist working for their community …

How would it impact on
- the health & wellbeing of every child?
- their learning and outcomes?
- our collective productivity?
- our quality of life and longevity?
- NHS cost & efficiency

It’s Freedom Day in South Africa. We celebrate the anniversary of our first free elections on 25th April 1994 after more than 300 years of oppression, brutality, apartheid and rule by our colonisers.

I hope one day soon the people of Palestine will be celebrating their Freedom Day too

Stephen’s legacy is our eternal need to fight for justice, equity and fairness in a world which continues to be legislated by systemic racism, unfairness and inequity

Aged just 18, he was left to die petrified and alone in a gutter.

Stephen’s family faced a 19 year battle against an incompetent and racial justice system before 2 men were eventually convicted of murder. At least 3 others live free despite being involved in his murder.

If we lived in a kinder and more just world, today #StephenLawrence would be a successful 50 year old architect, living a comfortable life. Sadly on 2nd April 1993 his dreams were destroyed in a horrific racial attack at a bus stop in Eltham.

Last Thursday, I lost a former colleague to sepsis. She was dedicated, hardworking & for 25yrs put her pupils first

And now, she’s gone. She never got time for herself. Never got to enjoy the pension she paid into.

Prioritise taking care of yourself. Life won’t wait

This is going backwards. Perfunctory reporting which does nothing to support school development

Wow. And also, wow.
When your own employees are blowing the gaff maybe its time to take a proper break and have a bit ofna think.

The new report card (below) for schools in England demonstrates the lack of system understanding by both Ofsted and the government. It replaces a single judgement on schools with a host of metrics. As a result, schools will now focus on a series of data sets which will entail more tracking,

As we enter a New Year I always remember what Mrs Brown says - that in London everyone is different, and that means anyone can fit in.

I think she must be right - because although I don’t look like anyone else, I really do feel at home

Happy New Year

Donate to Humans Without Borders NGO, organized by Alison Kriel Who are we? Hi, we are Alison, Raj and Sharifah and we've worked as headteachers as well as c… Alison Kriel needs your support for Humans Without Borders NGO

It’s been a day of bombs being dropped on densly populated neighbourhoods in #Lebanon.

More children will die, get injured & displaced. I'm reaching out to ask for support for a fundraiser I’ve set up to help a registered NGO feed 300 displaced, cold and hungry children daily

Just to let you know - we’ve promised to send all the money, apart from bank transfer fees, to the children. We know many of you see this as an opportunity to make money. Not on this campaign

I’ve set up a GoFundMe to support this urgent request for help. With the exception of bank transfer fees, all money will go to the children as all the adults supporting Humans Without Borders are volunteers.

These are desperate times so please give what you can and share the appeal. Thank you

She doesn’t want anything for herself but her organisation - Humans Without Borders - are desperately struggling to feed 300 children each day on primative camping stoves, including under 2s who need milk. The children are all displaced and under siege due to the daily attacks by Israel.

After the explosion in Beirut harbour she became part of an NGO called Humans Without Borders. Despite the hardships, my friend never asks anything of me. In a recent conversation when I asked her if there is anything I can do to help her she said things have never been so bad in her lifetime.

We became friends and maintained contact despite living so far apart. (If anyone has worked with British Council Connecting Classrooms you’ll know this wonderful woman)

The story .. When I was supporting education policy development in Algeria one of our team was a wonderful teacher from Lebanon. She was kind and helpful and did everything she could to support us all (and as the only Arabic speaker she was a true godsend)

I’ve set up a GoFundMe to support the work of a #teacher I worked with, who always went above & beyond to support #education internationally. She is now asking for our urgent help to support #children in #Lebanon who are suffering. More details in 🧵 below

Call to ban cakes and biscuits at school lunchtimes in England Campaigners want ministers to overhaul rules to outlaw snacks that contain up to 12 teaspoons of sugar

We had a fruit only policy whether the pupils were school dinners or packed lunch and guess what? Everyone survived!

Kids don’t need sugary desserts every day
