You'll know it when you can barely keep up with the dog on its walk, your shoes don't fit anymore, and you have to sleep sitting up in bed because of the pressure in your chest when you lie down.

Which is not at all to say that there's no role for the private sector.

Just that we need IMO to get back to actual public/private partnerships.

The fuck-ups may look different, but it's not clear to me that the private sector has a better overall track record than the gov't when it comes to executing on large national priorities.

I think that's probably true, but my counter (as a moderate lib) is that the same is basically true of the private sector.

And *that* fact has historically been underappreciated (or ignored) by conservatives, at least as regards the long-standing push to privatize gov't programs.

There are not two ways to calculate percentage. There are two ways to quantify the relative expense of the drugs.

"Cost" where $600->$10 is a 98.3% reduction.

"Units per Dollar" = 1/Cost where 1/$600 -> 1/$10 is a 5900% increase (not 600%)

@louvreofthelouvre.bsky.social

Okay, it's from the other place, but it deserves to hang here.

@sonnybunch.bsky.social @kenwhite.bsky.social can I assume we'll get a @thebulwark.com / Serious Trouble crossover episode when this comes out?

And the absolute best part is that, with as much D+ swing as we're seeing, it's not a sure thing that Republicans actually gain many/any seats in Texas from their hijinks, because gerrymandering requires that safe R seats be made less safe.

I feel like I've mastered two of these.

The next administration must make clear that any immigrant, refugee, or asylum seeker wrongly deported, exiled, or otherwise mistreated by this administration will be readmitted with an expedited path to citizenship. Send a plane to get them.

We can't undo the damage. But we can do something.

They should rebrand America First as America Alone, because they are systematically undermining literally every axis along which we might require assistance in the future from other states/peoples.

I'm not at all surprised by it. I'm quite online and quite immersed in political commentary and I only barely know who he is. I've never watched him / listened to him, only recently had a grasp of what he thinks/says, and didn't know what he looked like until about a week ago.

Wait, his negotiating position is now "Okay, sure, I'll extend the ceasefire until I hear back from you."?

I'm sorry, I was told this administration was all about reinstating meritocracy.

They would ๐Ÿ’ฏ pass this bill and then complain that wokeness had gone too far because they no longer got stiffies walking through the park in May.

JFC. What kind of narcisist sits around thinking, "Goddamit, people should really honor me more" and then proceeds to build their whole political identity around that grievance.

A lmost certainly not the best objectively, but the most memorable are the fried bologna sandwiches I used to get abt 20 years ago at Mid Ohio Sportscar Course.

I think they've long since kicked out the independent food vendors there, unfortunately.

Absolutely hilarious to have the "FBI returns to core mission" chyron under that.

This is incredible.

Also. Fuck RFK Jr.

It's very revealing. The conservative conflating of religion with politics is not actually to apply any supposed Christian values to policy.

Rather it is to try to cloak whatever policy they choose in some divine imprimatur.

So pols can have opinions about theology, but not vice versa.

Lol. Trump repeatedly turning on his sycophants the instant they move an inch from him will never not be funny

My first thought after the news that he'd been defeated was that Vance and Tucker and all were going to immediately claim it as evidence that the threat of his or Trump's authoritarianism is just liberal feverdream.
