I’ve visited the US a few times, but atm I don’t see myself wanting to go back. Not just because of Trump, but because of the overall mess I see there. As an EU citizen, I have plenty of closer and better options, as well as more distant ones like Japan, NZ, Australia, South Korea, Canada, etc.

Russia is losing its influence all over the world... well done, Putin!

The midterms and the next election in the U.S. will also point to that direction.

awesome, but tell me first the latency :)

anything else beside empty words?

okay, maybe this version is more understandable: Russians, run home! ;)

The ineffective Russian interference came as a surprise to me as well. I expected minimum the same level of work as we have seen in Moldova. Interesting... Not enough money&resources for this???

5% chance: Fidesz will have a majority together with the even more far-right Mi Hazánk (Our Homeland).

I will be one of the happiest people to see my predictions fail. I spent more than five years of my life working almost full-time against Orbán. Sadly, I don’t see that happening.

HU election system favors the winner, and if you win the majority of the single-member districts, you are almost done.My estimate is the following:for ~20m EUR,they can buy 3,000 votes in 50 districts, and that’s enough.Protests will be suppressed within a few weeks, and everything will go on as before.

the government is clearly in Putin’s hands, unlike in Moldova last year; therefore, buying the votes of marginalized people is much easier (and centrally organized by government puppets).

75% chance: Orbán wins, because he is an extremely valuable asset for Putin, Xi, and other autocrats and global mafiosos. The Moldovan playbook will appear again, but this time it will be far more effective:

Fidesz will block everything over the next four years (they have puppets in every position, from the courts and central bank to the media), and they will come back into power in 2030.

20% chance: Tisza wins a simple majority, and all the previous sh*t will fall on them. They may try to grow into the role, but I'm very pessimistic: if they don't purge (= bring before the courts) the previous oligarchs and Fidesz politicians, they are going to lose.

My thoughts (100% biased, as a party that I founded in 2017 against Orbán failed its mission; my friends/ex–party members are still sitting in Parliament for a few more days):

I'm a follower of Snyder's work, but this one is...

We can expect protests from both sides, but revolution... please...

Revolution in Hungary, hahaha

This guy knows nothing about my shithole country...

But those ***kers believe only in power and money, and they live in a way that contradicts what they say publicly, and could be the base of their common values...

I think it’s okay on a different level, but this is unusual and quite embarrassing.

If you think the same way and share a common understanding of many values, helping your fellow politician friends is acceptable.

during a previous price cap "season" (before the '22 national election - surprise, surprise!), a similar method you described was common. but after thousands of Slovaks and Romanians filled their cars on a daily basis, this option was shut down.

Due to developments in the international oil market, the government introduced the so-called “protected price” with effect from 2026.03.10. Vehicles with HU license plates and registration certificates may refuel "95" gasoline at a maximum price of 1.55€/l, diesel fuel at a maximum price of 1.61/l.

nope, but that doesn't matter. let's see if orban can replicate the moldovan election, but on a larger scale. there is a really good chance that we are gonna witness it :/

There is no chance of this before the election.Orbán is one of the worst communists, and he never forgets administered/state-regulated prices

There are dozens of daily goods that are constantly kept at reduced price levels to buy votes from the poor. You have to live here to understand this sh*thole

Could the secondary effect of this banking behavior on the private sector be an extreme slowdown in new projects, R&D, etc., because they can't secure enough funding for future investments?
