I wouldn’t!
Will the rat-proof bin also be raccoon- and fox-proof? Because every suburbanite in the country will also want one and NYC will solve all its financial problems
Living memory! This is still living memory!
$150mil for libraries would probably do more to decrease crime than $150mil for cops. There’s got to be data on that.
I think by the time most of us are mid-career, we’ve been punished for trying to solve problems a few too many times.
This is an Indigo Girls song! “Oooh, little perennials, where d’you come from?”
Are there any popes who haven’t been involved in politics?
I don’t even know how you remember the beginning by the time you get to the end without writing it down. Sometimes even with writing it’s a problem. How do you even revise your work like that? My mind is blown.
If that’s a complete essay as voice note I’m pretty impressed.
Your skirt fashion is amazing.
Old cartoons used to show prisoners breaking rocks for punishment. Maybe we should go back to that for certain exceptional cases.
Gotta get that cafe car. (I have been on a train between NYC and VT in ski season and they sold out of beer. There was cheering after they restocked in Albany. Pretty sure these folks would have done a lot riskier to pregame their ski weekends.)
There is a ST:TNG episode in which Dr. Crusher has an intern who has just found out she’s a Q. Crusher asks her to do something in a lab, and she uses her Q powers, then is shocked to find Dr. Crusher angry. She needed the observations during the process of the task more than the tidy result.
The lobby style dustpan is where it’s at - no bending/squatting to sweep the dust away
Spin City joke back in the day, Mike orders “a pair of chinos” in a coffee shop and is told he just asked for pants.
I think reading and watching are different experiences. It can be a lot easier to close a book than turn away from a disturbing scene. And I think whenever we talk about kids we have to remember that they are all different!
Love your research! Empiricism is adorable!
Yeah, like, raise your hand if the idea of leftist Jews being tortured to death by a violent empire is not making you feel secure…
Ooh, I changed a work goal from “attend 4 hours of webinars about using AI tools” (shoot me) to “read 4 academic papers about AI” so this will be a great source for that! (I am my workplace’s AI Cassandra. It’s rough out there. I deeply appreciate your work.)
Is “thanatophilic” a word? Something to capture the wholesale pursuit of death…
At a former school I tried to get the PTA interested in a CR box build day but got crickets. But I built my kids’ classroom one for sure!
My kids get sick soooo much less often attending a school with a HEPA filter in every classroom. Vaccines are critical but air filtration helps with things we can’t vaccinate against and for people who can’t be vaccinated.
Of course LLMs rely on lexical associations and statistical priors! That is what they do! How could they do anything else? How did we reach the place where scientists have to do research to prove that there is no ghost in the machine? ::cries::
The misplaced apostrophe is hurting me. In addition to everything else
Must have come standard in the code he downloaded from GitHub to modify
My sister once told me she didn’t want to direct movies because she didn’t have any ideas. Three minutes later she said she wished guys had a manual in their back pocket so their girlfriends could look up how they worked. I think people don’t know what an idea is or how to turn it into a story.
