Nah I mean China. We do have more in common with the EU but in this case that's not a good thing. Most of the EU are US vassals in fancy hats. China and certain other BRICS nations are the only ones actually able and interested in taking on the US.

I'm an extreme leftist and we have something called "cynicism of the mind, optimism of the will". It's better explained in "Against Pessimism" by Gramsci, but suffice it to say I also have great hope. It's very important to maintain that. I just don't put it in any one man or administration. Thanks.

I know the CPC is more dangerous, I just think the difference between bad and worse isn't a hair worth splitting.

I don't have much belief in electoralism either way so I don't mind which way you vote. I only have issues when folks sorta vote and then go "well there's my civic involvement for the next couple years." When voting is like, the least impactful political action you can take.

Hey guys here's my real actual mothman ass

At MTG last week one started going "I'm not a political guy but man this feels bad" and I asked "Do you wanna know why it feels bad?" and then he learned about the NIOC, the restoration of the Shah, the Straight of Hormuz, and what the Petrodollar actually does.

I'm in a super weird area so while I have piles of leftist friends from the one side of it, I also have piles of apolitical friends from the other side. Those apolitical friends are getting less apolitical and I've been trying to steer them.

It's in the link. You can read the link and find out what you were wrong about. IDGAF about your motivations or opinions. I know the effect of what you're doing, which is spreading a false claim that supports the wealthy. People might believe you, and that would make them incorrectly informed.

The fact that stretching meals never even occurred to Kitchie here tells you basically all you need to know. True struggle is foreign to them and they are incapable of seeing beyond themselves. Disabled, criminal record, poor, if you're not in their tax bracket they don't give a shit.

I'm disabled in a way that fortunately lends me the ability to still work so I know the bullet I got grazed by. The way we treat the disabled while acting like we have any moral high ground to stand on is honestly disgusting.

Additionally, stumping just means supporting. Whether what you said was fact or not is immaterial as they are still the wealthiest people in the country and you are still trying to bring people to their side against their own interests.

You were already presented with the counterpoint, which is that your facts are manufactured. You have been lied to with statistics and have shared that lie as a fact. This is how misinformation spreads. Please do further due diligence and open your mind to being wrong.

Food can be stretched. It ain't healthy or easy to do, but it can be done and must be done when the state fails to feed its people. Say what you will about bread lines, but they GOT the bread.

Cynicism of the mind, optimism of the will. Also like most sensible people I have no faith in billionaires not to take an open opportunity to snatch money from the poor.

Okay... So I presented you with multiple ways in which that last statement was untrue and you yelled about irrelevant things for a bit. I didn't say anything about healthcare and education. I talked about what Carney has done, can you do the same?

I have many friends in the public sector who've already lost their jobs. This isn't a prediction it is actively happening.

You don't have to stump for the richest people in the country. You have the choice not to do that.

15 hours ago 2 0 1 0

Also just in concept, no. I will not give the person that represents me on the world stage a break if they are doing a bad job of it. He hasn't earned that.

It's been a year. He's already done things. Tax cuts across the board, broadly favouring the wealthy, sabre rattled at Iran for no reason, continued weapon supplies and support to Israel, cuts to piles of social services while dedicating himself to stripping privacy and selling us to AI.

And yes, yes they will profit off this. They'll surge price like they always do with this sort of thing. Since food is inelastic people will buy the surged food.

What meantime? You say that like there's a Liberal plan to deal with this long term. I'm not saying this is bad, I prefer people have food too, I'm saying this is less than a bandaid and is a direct wealth transfer from the public coffers to Galen Weston and his ilk.

Unfortunately, kind of. I'm more envious than jealous. (the difference is specifics. Jealous = I want your socks. Envy = I want socks like yours.) It's probably one of my central flaws and I'm working on it. Probably comes from insecurity.

The US is Trump. Remember Nam? Iraq? The Gulf? Korea? Hiroshima? Nagasaki? Cuba? Chile? Hell even Canada if you go back far enough. It didn't matter who got voted in, the imperialist rot is the base of your country. Trump's doing the world a favour by being so shit the emperor lost his clothes.

He's been in office a full year. Time's been given. Basically the only actually GOOD thing he's done is eliminate the nonsensical tariff we had on Chinese EVs. Outside of that it's just been a bog standard austerity regime with a bit of jingoism for flavour.

The NDP is currently advocating for a nationalized grocery store, a system that would prevent this sort of abuse and the need for this transfer of tax payer money directly to the richest people in the country.

Yeah, you're describing capitalism. A shit system with shit outcomes that has put us in such a position that people need a wealth transfer of their own money back to them to give to grocery magnates to afford groceries because said groceries have been so heavily gouged.
