American politics makes a lot more sense when you realize that the GOP is afraid of pissing off the GOP base, and the Dems are afraid of pissing off the GOP base, but neither party is afraid of pissing off the Dem base.

@schumer.senate.gov argument is that Trump is a better messenger than the Dems are so the only option is to join them. The only way Dems will ever be given power again is if the current bunch is replaced by those who will truly represent the people.

They are feckless and performative. Time to go. You can’t spend an entire election cycle saying he is an existential threat, work with him, and expect the American people to ever trust you again.
