I'm in the same boat. I'm going to convert my old personal PC to Linux (it's Win 10 and can't be upgraded to 11). Then I'm going to experiment with setting it up for .NET development and eventually moving all my work to it too.

I'm completely fed up with Microsoft too.

I have to admit I felt a tug at the heartstrings watching the reentry and recovery.

The professionalism and dedication by all involved in this mission is as a stark contrast to tech bro culture and the crap output we all suffer from.

I've been on tools for 20+ years. I wish GenAI is as good as promised, but my conclusion hasn't changed: all I'm seeing is an affirmation of how much people buy into the hype, especially at C-level.

I find the idea that you need to know “how to use” AI tools really funny, as if it isn’t incredibly easy to type in prompts and the marketing these tools is that literally anyone can do it

Why haven't we always been asking for this on diffs from developers who write their own code?

If AI is so smart it's taking developer jobs and we need this from it, then surely we've needed it even more from the people whose jobs are being taken?
