You see... it's a six-hundred page, fictional account, of a writer... surprisingly similar to me, who traps the person who rejected his work in a room and subjected them to episodes of Barney and Friends, Teletubbies, and HR Pufnstuf, twenty-four hours a day at max volume.

I think the key is to be natural, don't force it. Then the work has more flow.

I think people would notice... but as fast as things move these days and as short as many people's attention span is, the sense of loss would not be long. Before long there would be another distraction in place, filling that void you left. :-(

I have seen that a couple of times in my life, and there is something so captivating and mesmerizing about it.

One thing that I cannot wrap my head around is how so many people no longer read. Even people whom I know, at one time, were avid readers, just do not pick up a book anymore.

Not meaning to toot my own horn, but this is why I started my podcast. I wanted to do more to promote and help new writers. And I figured talking about their work, not in a review, was the best way.

I just finished Vigil, by George Saunders.

This is a book that reminds you why you should be reading books. It casts a new light on what an afterlife and the transition into it might be like. In the last two chapters I found myself tearing up.
