Through this league, thousands who would otherwise be excluded are able to experience the joy and community of soccer while celebrating the skill and strength of the best athletes in the world. The NWS is a place where queer and trans kids are able to see themselves reflected on the field.

As we call on our league to do better, we celebrate the space fans and supporters have created around the NWSL. Women's sport exists because otherwise women would be excluded from sport.

The trans community faces escalating attacks from harmful legislation and public figures today and women's soccer is no exception. The NWS itself abandoned its policy of gender inclusion 4 years ago and has yet to replace it.

Every day, and especially today, we invite our members and fans to join us in celebrating the trans people in our community. Trans people belong, period. Trans people belong in sport, in women's soccer, in public life.
